How about some help with your gar- den? If you need tempo- rary help with tasks you don't have time for, or simply aren't able to per- form yourself, look no further than the Odd Job Squad! The Human Resource Centre of Canada for Students (HRCC-S) links students seeking tempo- rary employment with employers or homeown- ers seeking help. This ini- tiative is called the Odd Job Squad. This year, Odd Job Squad Week is July 5-9. Help support local students by provid- ing them with a chance to gain valuable work expe- rience. By placing a stu- dent job order between July 5 - 16, you will be entered into a free draw for a chance to win a great prize! The Odd Job Squad is perfect for employers who have a casual job to be done but are unable to find the time or ener- gy to do it, and for students who would like to earn money while looking for the per- fect full-time job or who like the idea of short term work. No job is too big or too small! Willing and eager stu- dents register with the Odd Job Squad at their local HRCC-S, indicating their work experience and availability. They are notified when a job becomes available. Examples of odd jobs include: lawn work, cleri- cal duties, painting, and flyer distribution. Employers and homeowners interested in tak- ing advantage of this unique service can contact their local HRCC-S at (519) 235-1711 or visit the office at 281 Main St. S., Exeter. Our office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students interested in joining the Odd Job Squad can stop by the office to fill out a registration card. The HRCC-S also pro- vides services to employ- ers seeking full-time and part-time summer employees. Services include: job postings, resume collection and KATIE EMMRI SUMMER EMPLOYM OFFICER CH ENT POLICE BRIEFS Drinking and driving offence CENTRALIA — Huron OPP stopped a motorist on an ATV while driving on Victoria Street in Centralia June 26 at approximately 2 a.m. The officer had received a complaint from a citizen early that night about an intoxicated person driving in the area. The officer stopped a white and yellow 2000 Polaris four wheel ATV and arrested a man for impaired driving. He was taken for breath tests that indicated he was approximately two -and -a -half times the legal limit to drive. The 29 -year-old male of Ashfield-Colborne- Wawanosh has been charged with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs. He will attend court in Exeter Aug. 26. Assault brings fine EXETER — An assault against a cab driver led to a fine in Exeter court June 24. Before Justice R.G. Hunter, Bradley Dietrich of Kirkton pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault stemming from an incident Jan. 3 over a fare dispute. Dietrich was found guilty and given a $400 fine. Assault Matthew Kloida of Exeter was given a sus- pended sentence and placed on probation for 12 months after pleading guilty to an assault charge stemming from an incident Sept. 12. Impaired Benjamin Bjerg of Blyth pleaded guilty to a charge of ability impaired stem- ming from a incident April 7. Bjerg was found guilty and given a $1,500 fine with a 12 month driving ban. A further charge of over 80 mg. was with- drawn. A charge of over 80 mg. was dismissed against Mark S. Moreau of Parkhill. Moreau pleaded not guilty to the charge which stemmed from an inci- dent after Moreau was stopped in a vehicle check Nov. 3. The charge was dis- missed after Hunter ruled the two-hour limit for administering a breath test after being stopped had been exceed- ed. Harassing phone calls Ken Denomme of Exeter was found guilty on a charge of harassing phone calls made last year. Denomme was given a suspended sentence and placed on probation for 12 months.
