Rev. Stanley Jay will celebrate Trinity Sunday service
By H. Davis
SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT
SAINTSBURY - With balloons mark-
ing the Saintsbury Line and Mount
Carmel Drive, 53 women and one gen-
tleman representing eight churches
throughout Perth Deanery and five vis-
itors from neighbouring communities
joined the women at St. Patrick's for
the spring deanery meeting.
The tables were tastefully decorated
with white tablecloths, green votive
candles and a number of shamrock
plants.
Viola Atkinson, Starr Davis and Hazel
Davis welcomed everyone. Following
registration where everyone was pre-
sented with a small gift box containing
`Little essentials as you travel life's
busy by -ways to help you remember to
be a friend always,' Margaret Carroll
welcomed everyone. Hazel Davis, light-
ing the candle at the altar, led in
prayer and the grace over the food.
The tea table held a wonderful
assortment of goodies and a beautiful
anniversary cake marking 110 years
as an organized group, 1894 - 2004.
Elizabeth Jay and Stevie MacGillivray
poured tea from the silver tea service.
Following refreshments, Hazel Davis,
as Perth Deanery Representative,
thanked everyone for coming, the
women from St. Patrick's for working
so hard to prepare for the event, and
Courtney, Crystal, Katie -Scarlett and
Starr who so willingly offered their
assistance for the meeting. St. Patrick's
is so blessed having such faithful
young people.
In 1860 when the parish was formed,
the women took on a big part of build-
ing the future for the young people and
kept busy with socials, quilt making
and Bible study, but not as an orga-
nized group.
In February 1894 Mr. Thomas
Dickins picked up a number of women
with the horses and sleigh and visited
the home of Mrs. Phin Hunter. Mrs.
Dickins had been inspired by reading
the Living Message and decided they
should have an organized group
So, in the spring she attended the
annual meeting in London and spoke
with Mrs. Callard and in September
1894, Mrs. Callard visited St. Patrick's
and the W.A. was organized. The girl's
branch of the W.A. was organized in
September 1903, also by Mrs. Callard.
We at St. Patrick's continue today
with several descendants of the
founders still present and active; the
group is small but remains very faith-
ful and proud to be members of such a
wonderful organization that all those
before worked so hard to achieve. With
God's help, all was made possible.
Hazel expressed her sincere thanks
to all the women from each of the
parishes in the deanery for their
thoughts, prayers, cards and notes of
encouragement during her illness and
on-going treatment.
A reminder to the women to have
their Fair Share to the ACW treasurer
by June 1 and last date is Dec. 1, 2004.
History and hand books are still
available; Marie Jones of Stratford
gave a short talk on the handbook.
Phyllis O'Neil was introduced as the
new ACW deanery president of the
diocesan council and she brought
greetings from council. Paddy
Hammond, past president, also
brought greetings.
Hazel Davis introduced guest speaker
Gayle King of Bayfield, who gave a
wonderful presentation on the `Herbs
of Life,' as well as giving out a number
of recipes.
King was thanked and presented
with a St. Patrick's china mug and a
gift of money, also a peace candle for
Trinity Bayfield and its history.
The women were invited up into the
church for the service of light and
evening prayer service led by Heather
MacGillivray and the women from St.
Patrick's.
King gave a short message entitled
`String of Pearls.' Each of the women
were invited to wear pearls. It was a
marvellous message and now each of
us look at our pearls in an entirely dif-

males inside the vehicle threw the
sign out of the way and then fled in
the vehicle. The officer was supplied
the names of the two youths inside
the vehicle who were later
approached over the issue. As a
result of the investigation a 17 -year-
old male from South Huron has been

Lisa. Michelle Iredale and Starr Davis
