Marilyn Carter was in charge of the Family Sunday or Mother's Day church service on Sunday morn- ing. The introit was sung, people greeted one another and Rev. Carter gave the announcements. Joyce Fulton read a Minute for Council. Rev. Carter led in the call to worship, prayer of approach, Lord's Prayer and affirmation of faith in unison. Everyone sang Come In, Come In, and Sit Down. Corey Smith lit the Christ Candle and Kristy Bray read the youth a story. Rev. Carter helped Kaylee Geiger pour water in the baptismal font. Everyone sang the bap- tismal hymn Out of Deep, Unordered Water. On behalf of the con- gregation of Thames Road-Elimville United Church, Grace Pym pre- sented Evan Douglas Geiger, child of Karen Marie (Rohde) Geiger & Donald Benjamin Geiger and Kinsley Carisa Richardson child of Brian Kenneth Richardson & Carisa Lynn (Willis) Richardson for baptism. Rev. Carter performed the baptism. Cam Rader and Kathy Rohde are the godparents for Evan. Grace Pym presented a lighted candle to Ben and Brian, and Sharon Passmore presented a Bible to the parents. Joyce Fulton presented them with the certificate. The choir sang Treasure Each Moment accompanied by organist Jean Hodgert. Psalm 148 was read responsively, and Rev. Carter read John THAMES ROAD NEWS 13 : 31- 35. The title of her sermon was Actions and Attitudes . The men of the choir sang Mother's Love accompanied by organist Jean Hodgert. Dennis and Sandra Rowe received the offering. Everyone sang Would You Bless Our Homes and Families and repeat- ed the commissioning. Rev. Carter pronounced the benediction. May the God of Hope Go With Us was sung to close the service. The flowers in the church were placed there in memory of the late Edwin Miller. The congregation's thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with Brian, Barry & Melonie and family, Barb and Jan whose father, grandfather and friend passed away last week. Announcements Received by baptism into Christ's church at Thames Road-Elimville United Church, Evan Douglas Geiger, son of Karen (Rohde) & Ben Geiger and Kinsley Carisa Richardson, daughter of Carisa (Willis) & Brian Richardson. The Outreach Committee is looking for two volunteers to help with the Out of the Cold program for May 17. If you would like to volun- teer please contact Helen Weston at 229-6281. Newsletter reports are due by May 30 and are to be given to Ruth Anne Osgood. May 15: (Saturday) 8 p.m. to May 16 (Sunday) 10 a.m. Thames Road Elimville Christian Education committee is hosting a Wake-A-Thon for students, Grade 4 - Grade 8. Please help sponsor these children as they raise money for Mission and Service Fund and Children of Chernobyl. Members of Zion, Woodham and Kirkton Sunday Schools are also invited to partic- ipate. May 16: Community of Churches Annual Conference Sunday Service with guest speak- er Alan Slater, a retired farmer from the St. Marys area who spent time in Iraq as a Christian peacekeeper. The service will be held at Thames Road Elimville UC with orchestra and singsong beginning at 10:30 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Special music by joint choir. This service is coordinated by Centralia, Zion West, Kirkton, Woodham, Hibbert and Thames Road Elimville United Churches. May 17: Community shower for Tammy Rohde at the church at 8 p.m. May 30: There will be a congregational meeting following the service to receive the canvass and furnace committee reports. June 13: Strawberry supper, from 5 to 7 pm. at South Huron Rec. Centre, Exeter. Advance tickets by June 5.
