Summary
Tuesday: The fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market.
Fancy and double muscle steers and heifers sold
90 to 97 with sales up to 107.25. Choice steers
and heifers sold 87 to 90 and 2nd cut steers and
heifers sold 82 to 87. The cows also traded at
prices steady to last week.
Thursday: The veal sold under pressure and
the lambs sold on a sharply lower trade.
Friday: The calves sold on a steady market
while the yearlings traded at prices $2 to $4
lower.
Steers
There were 594 steers on offer.
D.M. McAlpine, Ailsa Craig consigned one limo
steer weighing 1480 lbs which sold for 107.25.
Their overall offering of seventy-three steers
averaged 1552 lbs selling for an average price of
93.43.
Thirty-six steers consigned by Allan Lewis,
Ailsa Craig averaged 1430 lbs which sold for an
average price of 94.26 with his top limo steer
weighing 1305 lbs selling to Dominion Meat
Packers for 107.
Enoch Martin, Linwood consigned one limo
steer weighing 1495 lbs which sold to Norwich
Packers for 100. His overall offering of thirteen
steers averaged 1446 lbs selling for an average
price of 97.64.
Heifers
There were 250 heifers on offer.
Johnston Farms, Bluevale consigned one black
heifer weighing 1410 lbs which sold for 106.
Their overall offering of twelve heifers averaged
1473 lbs selling for an average price of 86.48.
One black heifer consigned by Brian & Bill
Dallner, Atwood weighed 1325 lbs selling for
105.25.
Ron Dietrich, Mildmay consigned four limo
heifers averaging 1294 lbs which sold for an
average price of 91.99 with sales to 96.50.
Cows
There were 271 cows on offer.
D1 & D2: 30-40 sales to 56.50; D3: 20-25; D4:
10-15; Shell Cows: 5-10.
Ross Brindley, Goderich consigned one black
cow weighing 1760 lbs which sold for 56.50. His
overall offering of three beef cows averaged
1488 lbs selling for an average price of 47.80.
One char cow consigned by Tom Reinhart,
Mildmay weighed 1805 lbs which sold for 50.00
and one red wf cow weighing 1125 lbs selling for
34.
Bill Scriven , Ayton consigned one limo cow
weighing 1395 lbs which sold for 49.50.
Bulls
There were 9 bulls on offer selling from 19 to
49 sales to 52.
Robt Shetler, Lucknow consigned one limo bull
weighing 1585 lbs which sold for 49.
One limo bull consigned by Robert Graf,
Walkerton weighed 1555 lbs selling for 28.
Veal
There were 99 head of veal on offer.
Beef: n/a; Good Holstein: 55-70 sales to 77;
Medium Holstein: 40-50; Plain Holstein: n/a.
Mark Pfeffer, Clifford consigned two hol veal
steers averaging 617 lbs which sold to New
Market Meat Packers for 77. His overall offering
of seven hol veal steers averaged 611 lb selling
for an average price of 74.16.
One hol veal steer consigned by Hans
Sturzenegger, Auburn weighed 740 lbs selling
for 65.
