(photos/PatBolen) The Exeter Hawks rolled to their second OHA Junior D title in three years with virtually no letup through the entire year. The Hawks compiled a 28-7-3-2 record for 61 points, good for sec- ond overall in the league and first in the Morenz division. September The Hawks open the season with a 6-3 win in Mitchell and finish their four game stretch on the road at 1-1-1-1... October The Hawks play their home opener with a 6-4 win against Lucan...The win starts a streak for the Hawks where they go 17-2-1 in the next 20 games...The Hawks play their highest scoring game of the year with a 9-9 tie in Pt. Stanley... November Winning year for Northover It was a winning sea- son for Larry Northover, the only player in the area to ever win an OMHA and OHA title in the same year. Northover, in his first year with the Hawks was also a member of the South Huron Midgets who captured the OMHA title. Northover said both championships were tough but the teams were different. "With the Midgets we had a good team and nobody stood out. It was more keep the team together and be a leader. I was one of the young players with the Hawks. It was quite the experience and I gained a lot of experience this year." A 2-0 win in Lucan starts a perfect month for the Hawks as they go 7-0 in November... December Exeter continues to roll with five wins in December with their only losses coming at the hands of Lucan... January The Hawks open the new year with a 5-3 loss to Lambeth, beginning the Hawks worst month of the season as they go 4-2-1-1.. February The Hawks finish the season strongly with five straight wins in February to clinch first place in the division before a 5-3 loss to Lucan to close out the season... Exeter stats The Hawks had a winning record against every team in the conference except Lucan and Thamesford... Exeter was perfect against Mt. Brydges and Belmont at 5-0-0- 0...home record was 14-5-0-1...away record was 14-2-3-1...the Hawks had 10 come from behind wins and six losses after having a lead...overtime record was 0-2-3...Jeff Finkbeiner led the Hawks with 40 goals and 28 assists for 68 points...the Hawks had seven players with 10 or more goals; Finkbeiner, Justin Knee, Shawn Sherwood, Chad Deman, Jason Stuckless, Travis Elder and Matt Vlemmix...13 players were in dou- ble digits for points...Exeter's penalty killing was 80.6 per cent... the Hawks power play was 30.1 percent...Adam Hartman, Justin Knee and Evan Lutz were tied for game tying goals with one each....Finkbeiner led with 11 power play goals...Deman and Finkbeiner were tied with three shorthand- ed goals...Finkbeiner and Vlemmix each had one empty net goal apiece...Finkbeiner led the team with 227 shots on goal...Sherwood was second in shots with 168...Scott Davies led in plus/minus with a plus 35...Finkbeiner and Joe Nesbitt were tied for second with a plus 34...
