ELIMVILLE -The April meeting of the
Elimville Women's Institute was held at
president Shirley Cooper's home. A
potluck dinner was enjoyed. The meeting
opened with a poem 'The Night Before
Easter.' Six members answered the roll
call by paying membership fees and will
share program ideas at a planning meet-
ing in May.
Dates for members to remem-
ber are as follows: Huron
South District annual meet-
ing May 20 in Zurich Town
Hall; District picnic July 6 in
Crediton; London Area WI
Tweedsmuir workshop Aug. 2 in Mount
Elgin; London Area WI convention Oct. 5
at Holmesville Community Centre.
District director Muriel Parsons report-
ed on the April meeting of the district.
Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario
has deleted some previous committees
and given new names to others. This
was a concern to the group causing con-
siderable discussion. Parsons also read
the list of items from which five may be
chosen to display at Exeter and Zurich
fairs. The display theme is Treasures
from Grandma's Days.
The minutes of the 2003 annual meet -
mg were read. All officers agreed to act
in the same office for another year and
past -president Marjorie Johns conducted
the installation.
Program convener Shirley Cooper gave
a very interesting presentation related to
the Canadian theme. The group's knowl-
edge was tested by a quiz.
Trivia that all Canadians should know
include the following: 'From Sea to Sea'
is the motto of Canada, the second-
largest country in the world; 90
percent of Canadians live within
200 miles of the Canada -U.S. bor-
der; Lake Michigan is the only Great
Lake that doesn't touch Canada; the
maple leaf on the Canadian flag has 11
points; Canada is one of the world's
largest exporters of lumber products;
1985 was the last year for the delivery of
Saturday mail in Canada; the first school
was started in Quebec in 1620; the most
recent territory to be named is Nunavut,
meaning 'Our Land,' on July 9, 1993. It
has a population of 27,000.
Test yourself by naming the Canadian
provinces, territories and their capital
cities. Everyone should be proud to live
in this vast and progressive country.
The next meeting will be held May 19
at Marie Brock's home.
HENSALL - A good workout for mind

dined on pancakes, sausage, syrup,
melons and lots of coffee, tea and
juice. Visiting took place while platters

to discuss issues in the news and voice
opinions, especially on local happen-
ings. In the evening nearly all of the
20 Senior Diners stayed to enjoy the

Strings. Their wonderful music never
fails to please, and everyone loved
watching those doing the old-tyme
dances like 'Heel and Toe.'
Friday morning residents met for the
three times weekly exercise session
and in the afternoon pampering took
place in the form of hand -soaks, mas-
sage and manicures.
