Klaas VanWieren and his acap- pela male choir were the guest choir for this special day. The Christ candle was lit by Ryan Consitt. There was a special time for the chil- dren with story, song, and prayer. Pastor Darke's message: 'On the way to Damascus.' The confirmation class consisted of Tim Campbell, Brandon Consitt, Ryan Consitt, Warren Elder, Lauren Jinks, Maggie Jinks, Jeffery Timmerman, Jennifer Timmerman, Steven Troyer, and Keelan Westlake -Power. Rev. Judith Richie con- ducted the communion service. Glenn and Lois Hayter were the ushers. Following this special service were a social time and lunch. On May 3 the friend- ship circle would appre- ciate help with bingo. April 21 news At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson-Bahro's message was `Tremendous news for all.' Joyce Pepper was the organist with Harry Smith receiving the offering. Dorothy Taylor looked after the Sunday school. Tickets are still available for the hot luncheon on Thurs., April 29. Phone 263-6349 for tickets. On Wednesday evening April 14, zone commander Shirley Chalmers and zone sec- retary Russ Berry attended the Hensall Legion meeting. Zone commander Chalmers conducted the nomina- tions and elections fol- lowed by the installation of officers for the com- ing year assisted by the zone secretary. Legion members were pleased to have a full slate of officers which includes president Stew Taylor, first vice-presi- dent Greg Lundy, sec- ond vice-president Kathie Neilands, secre- tary -treasurer Bea Uyl, sergeant -at -arms Pete Zwaan, veterans service officer Larry Uyl, Padre Tracy Bahro-Whitson, executive Joan Beierling, Marg Upshall, Donna Smale, Bonnie Rowcliffe, Tom Neilands and Betty Taylor. There was a special children's time with song, story and prayer, followed by Psalm 118, an anthem, and Gospel reading. Pastor Hills' sermon: `Behind locked doors.' The offering was received by Pat Veal and Donna Smale. The service ended with the dedication of the offer- ing, commissioning and benediction, with Lauralee Schnieder playing the organ for the ministry of song. Flowers in the sanctu- ary were in memory of the late Stewart NEWS Blackwell. There will be a covenanting service for Pastor Hills at Hensall United Church on Sun., May 2 at 7 p.m., every- one is welcome. The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society will meet on Wed., April 28 at 7:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Hensall United Church. Guest speaker Martin Quinn will discuss ele- ments of the garden. Quinn will have plants and books for sale. There will be refresh- ments and everyone is welcome. Carmel Presbyterian Church will be holding a spring hot luncheon on April 29 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. The price is $8.50, take-out $8.75.
