Friendships happen
in many ways
LUCAN - Margaret Rook (pictured) enjoys getting
her hair done. With the help of the VON HOMME
Program and wonderful volunteers, Rook is able to
get to her appointment at Images By Joanne each
Friday morning to visit with Joanne Liley, owner.
Bob Patterson (pictured) is a VON volunteer driver
who assists Rook and others in Lucan to get to their
various appointments. Patterson would agree that
Rook is a joy to know and those who drive her find
her extremely grateful for the opportunity to get
around town. She is one of many seniors and adults
with disabilities who use this transportation service
available through the VON HOMME Program in
Lucan, Ilderton and surrounding areas.
If you or someone you know could use this service
please contact the VON HOMME Program office at
227-4546.
Volunteers are always needed; if you have an
extra couple of hours a month that you could volun-
teer, please call. We would love to have you join the
team.

Crokinole tournament
Eight members of the Varna Crokinole club attended
the Joseph Schneider House team championship April
17.
Team Varna led by Ray Beierling finished fourth over-
all. Beierling finished fourth in the individual champi-
onship which matches his finish at the recent Ontario
Crokinole tournament held at St. Jacobs. Other team
members included Jason Beierling, David White and
Ivan Morris.
Team Varna South was made up of Conrad Sitter, Bob
Robilliard, Bob Russell and Joe Fulop. This group fin-
ished third overall with Fulop tying for first place in the
individual championship.
It was a fine end to the regular season for the Varna
contingents. Some of these players will look forward to
playing in Tavistock at the World Crokinole champi-
onships to be held in June.
