This new method to biologically eliminate weeds, without chemical pesticides, may be a solution environmen- tally -minded Canadians are seeking. Agriculture and Agri - Food Canada researchers at the Saskatoon Research Centre and an R&D team from Scotts Canada are collaborating to develop the new technology into a safe, natural weed -control product. The three-year venture could lead to the world's first naturally occurring herbicidal organism to be commer- cialized for the lawn and turf industry for effective use against broadleaf weeds. Scotts will have the opportunity to license and manage distribution of any successfully devel- oped product. The joint effort is known as the Natural Broadleaf Weed Control Project.
