SOUTH HURON — South
Huron council will vote on
its 2004 budget this
Monday, featuring a 6.72
per cent increase in the
taxation levy over 2003.
Chief administrative offi-
cer Larry Brown said at
council's April 5 meeting
the proposed tax levy to
be collected by the munic-
ipality in 2004 is
$3,555,000, up from last
year's actual municipal
tax collection of
$3,330,982
Included in the budget
package is a 10 -year oper-
ating costs, spending and
tax rate increase forecast.
As Brown explained in his
report, this year's tax levy
was developed on a "10 -
year tax rate increase sta-
bilization model." Reserve
transfers and debt repay-
ment extensions were
used to reduce the effect
of capital expenses on tax
rates. Brown's report
included tax rate and cap-
ital spending forecasts for
the next 10 years.

EXETER — Dining for Seniors will celebrate its 15th
anniversary April 27.
The program, which is run by Town and Country
Support Services of Exeter, is held each Tuesday at 12
p.m.
Besides a meal, seniors are also treated to a guest
speaker and entertainment.
According to Faye Skinner, approximately 40 diners
come out each week.
An advisory committee for the program consists of
members Mary Koricina, Jean O'Rourke, Mary
Baechler, Mable Stanlake and A.J. Downie.
Koricina, a member of the advisory committee who
also cooks for the event, says she chose to become
involved with the program because she likes working
with seniors.
O'Rourke works with the home support branch
agency, working as a liaison between clients and Town
and Country Support Services.
Baechler has been involved with the program since it
began 15 years ago, working as a volunteer and also sit-
ting on the advisory committee. Stanlake represents the
diners on the advisory committee.
Downie is a volunteer who says she is glad to be able
to help seniors.
