Bob and Betty Kirk looked after exercises from 10 to 11 a.m. Volunteers on March 31 greeting diners were Josephine Denomme and Lottie Grenier. Helping Mary Koricina in kitchen duty were MaryLou Denomme, Doris Hamilton, Dianne Wilds, MaryEllen Gingerich, Audrey Haberer with Lee Regier as delivery of take outs and transportation driver. The 50/50 winner was MaryLou Denomme. The bingo winners were Earl Flaxbard, Helen MacLean, Verda Baechler, Lottier Grenier, MaryLou Denomme and Marjorie Reichert. No March birthdays but a new greatgrandchild for Gwen McKellar. Next week, April 7 will be the Easter meal. Phil Wagler Mennonite pastor will be guest speaker and Audrey Haberer will play some Easter music prior to themeal. Exercises as usual. Friendship program Queensway favourite HENSALL -Queensway celebrated Easter early with a wonderful program of music Sun., April 4 by Gail Mason and the Fellowship Singers. Their program was inspirational and residents thor- oughly enjoyed visiting with the singers over refreshments following the program. Fun and Fitness started the week Monday morn- ing with a workout in the sunroom followed by games to stimulate mental function. In the after- noon the Legion women provided assistance and prizes at bingo. Tuesday morning eight residents gathered around the family diningroom table for a feast of pancakes, sausage, syrup, toast, juice, coffee, tea and fruit. Staff member Sharon Martin created the feast while residents watched and conversed over their first piping -hot coffee of the morning with volunteer Marg Cole. In the afternoon, Shirley Luther presided over the church service with music by volunteer Belva Fuss. JBS Clothing Company set up shop in the activa- tion area Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for the shopping convenience of residents and their families, as well as community seniors. Volunteer Edna Deitz was on hand to assist those Zurich Golden Agers enjoy euchreama A euchreama at Hensall Arena sponsored by Zurich Golden Agers with Gwen McKellar as orga- nizer assisted by June and Ray Hodgson was held on April 1. Proceeds went to Tri -County Senior Games. Entry forms are available from Donna Smale, Hensall and Gwen McKellar, Zurich Share the wealth win- ners were Doris Denham, Winnifred Roberts, Dorothy Elder, Ada Steeper, Ray Rader, Marilyn Dixon, Marlene Deichert, Joyce Willert. High white card winner was Marilyn Dixon and blue card was Ray Rader. A delicious lunch was had by all. Left over food plates were sold for a dol- lar each. POLICE BRIEFS Schools struck by vandals SOUTH HURON — Exeter OPP office received three calls about vandalism to the Exeter public school and South Huron District high school. On March 27 and March 28 the two schools, located on Victoria Street and Gidley 1982 Perth Rd.163.RR#1 St• Marys, Ont. N4X 1C4 Street, were struck through the night. Six windows were smashed, costing the school board more than $1,000 to replace. Four windows were broken at the public school while two windows in one of the main doors were bro- ken at the high school. Huron OPP are looking for assistance in solving this crime. Lively discussion over several items in the news took place over coffee and snack. Maggie Deveau, social worker was available in the afternoon to talk with resi- dents or family members needing her services. Andy Rau, Jack Youngson, Ann Duskocy, Lois Hodgins and Phyllis Deichert provided some great old-time entertainment at Friendship Friday in the retirement home lounge on Friday evening. The twice monthly Friendship Friday programs remain a favourite of residents at Queensway. Coming events April 8 at 6 p.m.: Senior Diners; 7 p.m.: Program with the United Church Youth. April 14 at 7 p.m.: Family Information Night. McGillivray Grade 4 students Alyssa Dixon and Rebecca Vandenbogaard were two of the students dressed in medieval wear March 26 as part of their study of medieval life. Knights, jesters, and peasants sampled authentic food from the period after spend- ing the last nine weeks studying the era in the school library and going through interactive castles on the internet.
