HENSALL — The
Hensall Sherwoods start-
ed their best of seven
WOAA semi-final series
against the Clinton Radars
011 the weekend by split-
ting the first two games.
Friday in Clinton the
Sherwoods came out on
the short end of a 7-4
score.
Saturday before a large
crowd in Hensall they
rebounded with an 8-4
victory.
The Radars opened up a
2-0 lead on Friday after
the first period. Chris
Kennedy cut the lead in
half, 55 seconds into the
second period. Sean
Members of ABATE, Huron -Perth Chapter 14 donated $1,800 to the Hensall
sledge hockey club March 13. Of the amount, $1,500 came from chapter funds
and $300 was donated at the funeral of member Brad Hefty Jewitt last October.

McCann assisted on the
goal.
Clinton restored their
two goal lead two and a
half minutes later. With
14:27 left in the second
McCann scored on the
power play, with Mike
Johnson picking up the
assist.
With seven minutes left
in the period Johnson
scored from Chris
McDonald and Derek
McKinlay to make the
score 3-3 after two.
Just over two minutes
into the third Johnson
scored his second of the
night. The goal was unas-
sisted.
Just 38 seconds later
Clinton tied up the game.

period the Radars went
up 5-4.
Midway thru the third
Clinton went ahead by
two, and rounded out the
scoring with 33 seconds
left by getting an empty-
netter.
The Sherwoods scored
on their power play and
managed to kill off their
only penalty. Andy Glavin
played goal for Hensall.
Saturday night in
Hensall, Johnson opened
up the scoring about five
minutes into the game.
McDonald and Dan Taylor
assisted.
Two minutes later
Clinton tied up the score
while on the power play.
McCann restored the lead
with about seven minutes
left in the first. McKinlay
and Kennedy had the
helpers.
A minute and a half
later Clinton tied it up
again. With 3:28 left in
the first Clinton went
ahead 3-2.
With just over a minute
left in the first Jeff Glover
tied it with Johnson and
Brent Hulley assisting.
The Sherwoods
outscored the Radars 3-0
in the second. Nate Burns
got the first a minute and
a half into the second,
with Jeremy Geoffrey and
Taylor getting the helpers.
Midway thru the second
Johnson got his second of
the night, with Chris
Downie and Kennedy get-
ting assists. With 2:55 left
in the second Geoffrey
scored from Burns and

of the night six and a half
minutes into the third, to
make it 7-3. Downie and
McKinlay drew assists on
the goal.
With just over five min-
utes left in the third
Clinton scored. Jeff Glavin
scored a short-handed
empty netter with 1:12
left in the third to make
the fmal 8-4.
Unlike Friday's game
there were numerous
penalties. Clinton was one
for nine on the power play
while Hensall was zero for
two.
Each team had seven
coincidental minors, as
well as two misconducts
and one major. Clinton
out shot Hensall 24-19.
Scott Wood turned in a
steady effort in goal.
NOTES: Hensall coach
Randy Parker said "We
played solid in both
games against the regular
season champs. We were
a little shy on bodies
Saturday night, but came
away with the win as
everyone turned in a solid
effort."
Game three is Friday in
Clinton, game four is
Saturday in Hensall, game
five is Friday, March 26 in
Clinton and game six is
Sat. March 27 in Hensall.
All games are 8:30 p.m.

be in Clinton with date
and time to be
announced.
