Broadway comes to Exeter Figure Skating Club
EXETER — The Exeter
Figure Skating Club
hosted their annual car-
nival March 7, and in
spite of the weather, the
carnival was a huge suc-
cess. The carnival
theme this year was
"Night on Broadway."
Some sampling of music
came from Broadway
hits such as "Annie,"
"Cats," "Peter Pan,"
"Phantom of the Opera,"
"Oklahoma,""The Lion
King" and "Fame."
The club membership
is approximately 160
skaters, most of whom
participated in the car-
nival along with Exeter's
three synchronized skat-
ing teams. The Novice,
Masters and Adult skat-
ing teams added a lot of
colour and excitement
to the production. Even
the "Monday Night Adult
Lessons" group gave an
outstanding perfor-
mance.
The Carnival co -chair-
persons were Kelly
Holtzmann and Carrie
Parsons. Without the
direction and determi-
nation of these two
women this event would
not have been a success.
Along with these two
hard working people
were many volunteers
helping with such things
as costumes, decora-
tions, lighting, organiz-
ing skaters and clean
up.
Others who must also
be mentioned are the
dedicated skating coach-
es, Patty Dougherty,
Kathy McLlwain and
Lauren Smith.
This team of coaches
put together entertain-
ing and memorable rou-
tines that were enjoyed
by the audience as well
as the skaters perform-
ing them and fun was
had by all.
Congratulations to
president Kelly
Holtzmann, the execu-
tive, skaters, parents
and skating coaches for
another successful year
with the Exeter Figure
Skating Club. Have a
great summer and hope
to see you all again in
September.
