As each Chapter has a member referred to as the Queen Mother, this title has been designated to Betty Puttock, who has registered our chapter and keeps the activities and fun rolling. On the first Thursday of each month the ladies meet at a designated restaurant chosen at their previous meeting and then visit points of interest, craft and antique shops. In 2003, the ladies gath- ered in Sarnia, Stratford, Bayfield and St. Marys for their monthly get togeth- ers. However, in December, January and February, the group had their activities planned close to home in case of bad weather. Programs after lunch are readings, singing the Rowdy Red Hatters song, jokes, cards, games and of course ideas of where the next meeting will be held. The Red Hat ladies greet middle age in their Red Hats and Purple clothes with verve, humour and a genuine enthusiasm for life and living . The Exeter Chapter has one junior member, called a Pink - Hatted Postulate who wears a pink hat and lavender clothing - when she reaches 50 she will be a Red Hatter and then wear purple. On March 4, the ladies met in Grand Bend and had a scrumptious lunch at the Colonial Hotel. Just before lunch was served, the waitress brought in a lovely bouquet of red roses with a card: "To the Ladies of the Red Hat Society - Thank You for putting a smile on my face today!" and signed Linda, Twigs Floral Co. All the ladies were pleased to go home with a beautiful red rose. It sure made the day interesting! The Exeter Elderberries Chapter of the Red Hat Society recently met in Grand Bend.
