Total Receipts 2305 head of cattle, 401 lambs and goats. Summary Tuesday: The fed steers and heifers sold at prices $1 to $2 higher. Fancy steers & heifers sold 90-100 with sales to 103. Choice steers & heifers sold 82- 86. 2nd cut steers & heifers sold 71-81. Top quality and medium cows sold $2 higher with the balance of cows selling on a steady market. Thursday: The good veal sold on a stronger market with the balance selling under pres- sure. The lambs sold on a good active trade at slightly higher prices. Friday: The calves sold at prices $2 to $4 higher than last week while the yearlings trad- ed $1 to $2 higher. Steers There were 472 steers on offer. Enoch Martin, Linwood con- signed one blonde steer weigh- ing 1375 lbs which sold for 103. His overall consignment of fourteen steers averaged 1411 lbs selling for an average price of 97.52. Five steers consigned by Gilbert Janssen, Hanover aver- aged 1254 lbs selling for an average price of 91.80 with his top gold steer weighing 1295 lb selling for 98. Murray Johnston,, Bluevale consigned three gold steers averaging 1315 lbs which sold for an average price of 90.59 with sales to 93.25. Heifers There were 370 heifers 011 offer. Ron Dietrich, Mildmay con- signed three limo heifers aver- aging 1350 lbs which sold for 97.75. His overall offering of twelve heifers averaged 1310 lbs selling for an average price of 90.84. Seven limo heifers consigned by Merkley Farms, Wroxeter averaged 1283 lbs which sold for 96.25. Sellers Farms, Bluevale con- signed twenty-four heifers averaging 1371 lbs which sold for an average price of 88.76 with their top three heifers averaging 1487 lbs selling to Dominion Meat Packers for 92.50. The market at Denfield Livestock Sales traded on a strong demand on all classes of fed cattle with the fancy cattle slightly higher and the good fed cattle $5 to $10 higher. Aged and plainer cattle still sold under pressure. Cows were in good demand at prices $2 high- er. Sows and boars were steady. Ross Duff, Croton sold 17 steers average weight 1476 average price 91.89 with sales to 95 purchased by Norwich Packers. Todd Charlton, Denfield sold 9 steers average weight 1438 average price 91.53 with sales to 106 purchased by Norwich Packers. Normand Hodgins, Parkhill sold 15 steers average weight 1619 average price 82.98. Bob Hodgins, Lucan sold 8 steers average weight 1590 average price 88.25. Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold 18 heifers average weight 1401 average price 86.72 sales to 93 purchased by Norwich Packers. Glen and David Minielly, Wyoming sold 6 heifers average weight 1255 average price 87.55 sales to 100 purchased by Norwich Packers.
