Panther girls advance
to WOSSAA with win
EXETER — The Panther girls hockey
team have advanced to WOSSAA with
a 3-0 win over Madill at home Feb. 24.
The tournament will be held March 4
in London.
After a scoreless first period Katie
Stewart opened the scoring on a sec-
ond effort, picking up her own
rebound and firing it in while falling.
Trying to get the equalizer, Madill
pressed late in the period but South
Huron goalie Lea Mudge made several
saves to keep it 1-0.
Panther assistant coach Lynne
Farquhar said Mudge played a great
game, not allowing any rebounds or
loose pucks around her net.

the period as Kelsey O'Rourke went in
on a breakaway to make it 2-0 with 48
seconds remaining
Just over a minute into the third
period O'Rourke gave the Panthers
some insurance scoring her second at
13:48 to make it 3-0.
Running into penalty trouble as time
ran down, the Panthers played the last
two minutes of the game killing off a
five on three advantage for Madill, but
held on for the win.
Picking up assists in the victory were
Sararas, Kristin Ferguson and Leanne
Cronyn.
