Sherwoods tied
2-2 with Lancers
HENSALL - The
Sherwoods are tied
with Lucknow 2-2 in
their best of seven
quarter -final series
after splitting games on
the weekend.
Friday night in
Lucknow the
Sherwoods lost a tough
2-1 game in double
overtime. Saturday
night they rebounded
with a 4-2 victory.
Andy Glavin was the
story Friday night as he
turned away 43 of
45 shots to
keep the
game close.
Penalties
continue to
haunt Hensall as
they had to kill off 10
penalties, including a
five minute power play
at the end of the first
overtime into the sec-
ond overtime.
The Lancers scored
with 5:27 left in the
first period. Nick Regier
tied it up with five min-
utes left in the second,
from Dan Taylor and
Jeremy Geoffrey.
Each team had a goal
disallowed in the sec-
ond as well. There was
no scoring until 54 sec-
onds into the second OT
when the Lancers
scored. Hensall had
thirty-three shots on
Lucknow.
Saturday night in
Hensall, Sean McCann
opened the scoring four
minutes into the first,
on feeds from Chris
Downie and Jeff Glavin.
The 'Woods went up
2-0 with 1:50 left in the
period when Geoffrey
scored from Regier and
Nate Burns.
There was only one
goal in the second and
Burns scored it on a
backhander that went
thru the goalies legs.
Geoffrey and Regier
assisted. Lucknow got
on the board eight min-
utes into the third to
make it 3-1.
Less than a minute
later Regier scored
from Geoffrey to make
it 4-1.
The Lancers closed
out the scoring
on the power
play with 3:21
left in the third.
The Lancers
outshot Hensall
23-20 for the
game.
Scott Wood had
another strong outing
in net for the
Sherwoods. Lucknow
was one for eight on
the power play, Hensall
was zero for four.
NOTES: Games five
and six are this week-
end, Friday in Lucknow
and Saturday in
Hensall. Both are 8:30
p.m. starts.
Hensall coach Randy
Parker said, "Too many
undisciplined penalties
are hurting our game
plan of running four
lines effectively. Our
penalty -killing has been
great though."
