Panther boys ready for
playoffs with 7-2 wins

EXETER — The Panther boys hockey team completed
its regular season last week with wins over Stratford
Northwestern and Goderich to earn a bye into the sec-
ond round of the playoffs.
With a 10-1-1 record the Panthers will face either
Central Huron or Madill who will play a one game elim-
ination.
The winner will face South Huron next week in Exeter
with the date to be determined.
Against Stratford Feb. 3, Brian Glavin put the
Panthers on the board with the lone goal of the first
period.
South Huron broke the game open in the second on
goals by Jamie Bibby, Jordan Darling and Jesse
McCann.
The Panthers kept up the pressure in the third period,
with Mark Dietrich, Paul Denomme and Ryan Knee
adding three more goals as the Panthers rolled to a 7-2
win.
Getting assists in the win were Knee, Justin Muller
and Mitch Homuth each with two and singles from Mike
MacLean, Darling, Jeff Smale and Wes Johnson. Jeff
Baker got the win in net for South Huron.
The Panthers were in Goderich Feb. 4 and overpow-
ered the home side by a 7-2 score.
South Huron was led by two goals each from McCann
and Homuth and one each from Smale, Eric Denomme
and Bilcke.
The offence was well spread around again with two
assists coming from Knee and Darling, and singles from
Eric Denomme, Andy Sedlak and Paul Denomme Greg
Morley was between the pipes for the Panthers.

POLICE BRIEFS
SOUTH HURON — On
Feb. 3 at approximately
7:45 p.m. a woman called
police over a domestic sit-
uation. The woman, who
lives in South Huron, had
recently broken up with
her boyfriend. The man
went to the woman's
house where an argu-
ment took place and the
man allegedly made
threats of bodily harm
and destruction of prop-
erty. The man left and
the woman called police.
During the investigation
police were told the
woman had been assault-
ed twice and had a vehi-
cle vandalized twice dur-
ing the relationship.
Later that night the 31 -
year -old man from South
Huron was arrested and
charged with uttering
threats to cause bodily
harm, uttering threats to
destroy property, two
counts of assault and two
counts of mischief under
$5,000.
