Menesetung youth -employment opportunities

THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD - Rev. Marilyn Pym was in charge
of the regular church service on Sunday morning.
Everyone sang the Introit and shook hands. Rev.
Marilyn gave greetings, the announcements and led
in the Call to Worship, Prayer of Approach and the
Affirmation of Faith in unison.
Richard Johns lit the Christ Candle.
Rev. Marilyn told the youth a story,
I Made A Mistake. The choir sang, How Beautiful
To Walk In the Steps of the Saviour accompanied
by the organist Marilyn Vandenbussche. Psalm 138
was read responsively. Rev. Marilyn read Luke 5:
1-11 and the title of her sermon was, The Dangers
of Fishing With Jesus. Everyone took part in God's
Call: Our Response. Ken and Helen Kadey received
the offering and were greeters along with Zackary
Kadey. All read the Commissioning and Rev.
Marilyn pronounced the Benediction. All sang, May
the God of Hope go With Us.
Announcements
Feb. 11 - Standing committee meetings followed
by council meeting starting at 7 p.m. Council at
8:15.
Feb. 14 - Love is in the Air, Valentine's Dance.
Come, hear and dance to the Festival City Big Band
at St. John's United Church, 175 Waterloo St.,
Stratford, Ont. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Dancing 8
to 11 p.m. Light lunch and non-alcoholic refresh-
ments served. Spot dances and door prizes.
Tickets: $10 per person available from the church

March 14 - The choir is serving their Annual
Lenten Pancake and Sausage Brunch following the
service.

Get -well wishes are extended to Bruce Delbridge
and Kay Morley.
Sympathy is extended to Don and Janis
Richardson in the passing of their sister-in-law, the
late Sarah Richardson of St. Marys, who passed
away last Thursday.
Sympathy is extended to Rich and Rebecca
Heessels whose cousin, the late Jeremy Heessels,
passed away last Tuesday.
Sympathy is extended to Lorraine Alexander in
the passing of her mother, the late Ida Livingston
of Clinton, on Friday.
Meeting
After the church service about 40 people sat
down to a delicious potluck dinner The after the
dishes were finished, Sharon Lynn, chairperson of
council, called the meeting to order and called on
Rev. Marilyn, who opened the meeting with prayer.
Secretary Joyce Fulton read the different meeting
reports. All received good reports in the annual
report.
Janet Coward gave the M and S report. Larry
Fulton gave the Food Graine Bank report. Elson
Lynn gave the Trustee report and stated that John
Batten is replacing Jack Stewart. Sharon Passmore

'All you can eat' breakfast Feb. 14

HENSALL CORRESPONDENT
HENSALL - Come out and enjoy the
friendship of our February meal at
the Hensall Drop -In on Feb. 19 at the
Hensall United Church. Lunch will
be served at 12 noon. Following
lunch we will be hearing from Jack
Phillips who is a transplant patient.
All local individuals are welcome to
this luncheon, held on the third
Thursday each month. The cost is $5
per person. If required, transporta-
tion can be provided. To make
reservations contact Marg Cole at
262-2304 or Faye Skinner at 235-
0258 by noon on Mon., Feb. 16.
At Hensall United
Church it was a special
Sunday with the children
taking part in the service. The ser-
vice began with welcome and
announcements followed by the
Passing of the Peace. The children's
choir sang, Will You Come And
Follow Me. Warren Elder lit the
Peace Candle and also read the
Scripture. Fred Darke's message
was God Uses Sinners. Lauralee
Schnieder was the organist with
Betty Simmons greeting everyone.
Following the service many chocolate

goodies were enjoyed by all.
At Carmel Presbyterian Church
Tracy Whitson-Bahro was the minis-
ter with Joyce Pepper playing the
organ. The offering was received by
Harry Smith and Al Hoggarth.
Dorothy Taylor looked after the
Sunday school. The annual meeting
will be held on Feb. 29 following
church service.
The Hensall and Community
Horticultural Society's annual meet-
ing will be held on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
at Hensall United Church. The guest
speaker will be Shari Robinson.
Everyone is welcome to come out and
hear Robinson talk about her rug -
hooking business and also about a
new method she uses
for starting new gar-
dens.
The Hensall Fire Department in
conjunction with the Hensall
Community Development Action
Committee is hosting an 'all you can
eat' Valentine's Day Breakfast on
Sat., Feb. 14 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
at the Hensall United Church. The
cost is $5 for adults and $3 for chil-
dren 12 and under. All proceeds go
to community improvement projects
and events.
