Here's the eleventh commandment: Thou shaft
not skip breakfast. Eating breakfast every day
helps improve concentration, reduce hunger and
maintain a healthy weight. It's a good habit.
When cleaning out your medicine cabinet, check those tubes of
creams and ointments for their date of expiration. The date is
usually found imprinted in the crimp at the bottom of the tube. You
want fresh medication when you need it. This is especially true with
antibiotic ointments. Most pharmacies will take your outdated
medications for safe disposal.
Trying to lose weight? Make permanent dietary changes gradually.
Pick one eating and activity change and stick with it for several
weeks before adding a new one. Making changes in small steps
works much better than giant leaps to improve healthy living habits
for a lifetime.
Labels on cold medications often say "Do no take if you have
hypertension". Most cold medications contain certain
pseudoephedrine which can raise blood pressure. However, if your
blood pressure is well-controlled, taking a cold medication
containing this drug for a few days will not cause a problem.

Tired of Dieting. Mary
explained a bit about the
Good Food Box she has
been get-
ting for the
last two
years and showed some
recipes and other corre-
spondence about it. The
committee made muffins
from the recipes and
served them for lunch.
The meeting ended with
the benediction.
Church on Sunday was
at Varna. A gift of music
was shared by grandma
Joyce Dowson and grand-
daughter Alisha Dowson.
They sang, The Way That
He Loves. John Robinson
also shared his gift of
music. He played piano
and sang, In
the Quiet
Curve of the
Evening. We certainly
have gifted people right in
our own congregations.
Pastor Elly Van Bergen's
message was on, God is
Calling and How Long Will
He Tolerate Your Busy
Signal. Chili and home-
made rolls were enjoyed
following the service and
the free-will offering
which was over $200 will
go to The Sleeping
Children. The Varna

ple -fare lunch after for
both congregations. The
donations will be matched

low.
The teens will meet at
Brucefield at 7 p.m. on
Friday night to prepare for
their Valentine Tea to be
held Sat., Feb. 14 in the
Brucefield Church from 1
to 4 p.m. Mark your calen-

Reid's scones were sam-
pled at church on Sunday
and were very tasty.
