5-1 win Lucan versus
Lambeth Lancers
LUCAN — The Lucan Irish improved
their record to 22-7-3-2 with a 5-1
win over Lambeth Wednesday night
in Lucan to pull within two points of
the Exeter Hawks.
The Lucan-Exeter game
Friday night was cancelled
due to weather and leaves
Lucan with 49 points and
the Hawks with 51.
Hagersville continues to
lead with 57 points, leading
Tavistock with 55.
Wednesday night the teams 6°
exchanged goals in the first
period with Mike Miller
tying it up for Lucan after the °
Lancers had opened the scoring`'
five minutes in.
A pair of goals 20 seconds apart in
the second period gave Lucan the
lead for good, as Tom Burns and
Adam Thompson gave the Irish a 3-1
lead going into the third.
Pat Flood's goal midway through
the period extended it to 4-1, before
Dan Kudirka's unassisted
shorthanded effort made it a
5-1 finish. The Lancers outshot
Lucan by a 38-29 margin.
Picking up assists in the win
• were Matt Read with two,
and singles from George
Henry, Mike Burns and
Miller.
° Lucan had a makeup game
• against Mitchell Monday night,
r' with Belmont in town tonight
(Wednesday) at 7:45 p.m. and are
on the road in Mt. Brydges Saturday
night at 7:30 p.m.
Panthers
basketball
PARKHILL — The
senior boys basketball
team won the consolation
championship at the
Parkhill tournamnet on
the weekend.
Friday night the team
had a tough outing losing
57-53 to Dorchester.
Everette Dionne had 24
points and Pete
Fragiskatos had eight.
Saturday the team
played very well defeating
Regina Mundi 52-48
behind 19 points from
Pete Clifford and eight
from Fragiskatos.
In the consolation final
the Panthers shot the ball
very well and played
great defence defeating
Woodstock Collegiate 57-
45.
Dionne had 22 points,
Clifford 14, and
Fragiskatos had seven.
All in all a good effort by
everyone.

girls
GODERICH — The
Panther girls hockey team
improved their record to
8-1 with an impressive 6-
0 whitewash of Goderich
Jan. 21.
Jolene Unwin was per-
fect in net for the
Panthers who were led by
Leanne Cronyn with a
goal and two assists.
Kristin Ferguson had a
pair of goals, with Katie
Stewart, Kelsey O'Rourke
and Meaghan Ellison con-
tributing a goal and an
assist each.
The Panthers were at
home against Central
Huron Tuesday and have
one league game left
against Listowel Feb. 5 at
1:45 p.m.
