Sherwoods open against River Rats
HENSALL — The
Hensall Sherwoods will
open the playoffs Jan. 31
at home against the
Georgian Bay River Rats
in a best of five series.
The Sherwoods finished
their regular season with
a 5-4 loss to Lucknow
Saturday night in Hensall
giving them a 15-7-2
record.
Despite being short
handed against
Lucknow, the Sherwoods
outshot the Lancers in a
game which was mean-
ingless to Hensall since it
couldn't catch Lucknow
in the standings.
Game one of the series
against Georgian Bay will
start Saturday night in
Hensall at 8:30 p.m.

Lancers defeated Hensall 5-4 and the Sherwoods will open the playoffs Jan. 31 at

AAA's on the ice with
local ringette teams
HENSALL — Local
ringette teams will get
the benefit of learning
from a high level team
this weekend when
they share the ice with
the AAA Western
team.
The AAA team will
have an hour and half
practice in Hensall
starting at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday and than will
have 45 minutes each
with the Bunny/Novice
and Petite /Tween
teams starting at 5
p.m.
The practice was
organized by Exeter
ringette association
president Michele
Hodgert who offered
the ice time to the
AAA's in exchange for
the instruction time.
Hodgert said Hensall
is a convenient area
for the Western team
who do not have much
time or money for
practice.
"It is great for our
girls to see the levels
that are above them,
so it is a win/win situa-
tion" said Hodgert.
Helping to instruct
the local teams will be
AAA team member
and Hensall resident
Amber Caldwell.
