ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - A big thank you goes out to all the peo-
ple who have been so busy plowing snow during the
night and day. Also to all those going around town
opening up driveways and to Dennis for
keeping the sidewalks in town clear. It is
great to live in a small community where everyone
helps their neighbours. This sure is an old-fashioned
winter. So far there has been no school or buses six
times since Jan. 5.
Bill and Maddy Smith are happy to announce the
arrival of their 11th grandchild, Matthew Gerald
Smith, who was born on Jan. 19 to proud parents
Rick and Michelle Smith of Zurich.
Who took the sign???
It hasn't been returned yet. We are waiting for the
large, heavy wooden Village Shopping sign to be
brought back to the Bank of Montreal corner. The
sign has been missing since the Christmas holidays.
Jerome, Carmel and Butch Sweeney along with
their mother Marie Gelinas attended the funeral of a
relative, Duane Sweeney in Kitchener on Jan 24.

The three Alzheimer's drugs on the market in
Canada are usually used in the early stages of
the disease. A new one, long used in Germany,
could be the first one to be used in the late
stages of this cruel, mind -robbing disease. The name of the drug is
memantine. It's currently in clinical trials in the U.S. Not in Canada,
yet.
Researchers are still looking at the link between Coenzyme 0-10
and Parkinson's Disease. Groups of people took 300mg, 600mg or
1200 mg per day and the group taking the largest dose found the
greatest benefit (measured by ability to perform everyday tasks).
Unfortunately it's a very expensive chemical and more work has to
be done to truly proof its effect.
Tattoos are become quite common. Sometimes, after getting their
tattoo, some people regret doing it and look to laser treatment to
remove it. Some colours like yellow, orange and lavender can be
difficult to remove. Black, blue, red and green colours respond better
to laser removal.
When splitting tablets, you can try pressing down on the tablet's
edges with two fingers. Some manufacturers design their tablets
with a curved shape to make them easier to split.
