Lucan Irish tied for lead
LUCAN - Gaining three points
with a win and a tie last week, the
Lucan Irish pulled even with the
Exeter Hawks for first place in the
division.
Each team has 47 points, with the
Hawks having played one less
game and were in action Tuesday
night with a make up game.
Hagersville and Tavistock are tied
for the league lead with 51 points.
With a 3-3 tie against Thamesford
Wednesday night in Lucan and a 7-
4 win in Port Stanley Jan. 16, the
Irish improved their record to 21-
6-3-2.
Lucan has a pair of games this
week, with Mitchell in town
Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m.
before visiting N. Middlesex
Saturday night for an 8:30 p.m.
start.
Notes...As of Jan. 18 Matt Read is
third in points with 52, third in
goals scored with 26 and second in
rookie scoring... Joe Dobbie is first
in wins with 18 and fifth overall

SH Panthers sweep teams
EXETER - The Panther girls hockey
team won a pair of games last week,
outscoring their opponents by a com-
bined 12-2 score to give them a record
of 7-1, with their only loss at the hands
of St. Mikes, a AAA team this year.
The Panthers visited Stratford
Central Jan. 14 and despite some rust
from a three week layoff picked it up
in the third and came away with a 6-2
win paced by four points from Katie
Stewart with two goals and two
assists.
The Panthers also received three
point efforts from Kristin Ferguson
with a goal and two assists and Kelly
Cronyn had two goals and an assist.
Meaghan Ellison also had two points
in the win, with Shelby Musser con-
tributing a goal and Kristen Reschke
getting an assist.
Lea Mudge picked up the win in net
for the Panthers.
Stratford Northwestern visited South
Huron Thursday and the Panthers had
shaken off all of the rust, blanking the
visitors 6-0 with Jolene Unwin getting
the shutout.
Kelsey O'Rourke had a pair of goals
for the Panthers with singles going to
Stewart, Reschke, Cronyn and
Ferguson.
Emily Sararas had a pair of assists in
the win, as did Susie McCann and
Shelby Musser.
O'Rourke, Stewart and Reschke each
had an assist to go with their goals and
Jessica Bickell added an assist.
The Panthers have two games this
week, visiting Goderich Wednesday
and are at home against Clinton
Thursday at 2 p.m.
SH Panther boys win three
EXETER - The Panther boys hock-
ey team improved their record to 8-
1-1 with wins over Clinton Jan. 8 by
a 4-2 score, and 4-1 wins
over Goderich Jan. 9 and W"ri
Central Huron Jan. 15.
Clinton opened the ,,c;
scoring in the first peri-
od, but the Panthers tied
it up before the period
was over on an unassisted
effort by Mitch Homuth.
After a scoreless second period,
Clinton took the lead again in the
third.
The Panthers responded with three
goals in five minutes to erase the
lead and take a 4-2 lead on goals by
Jordan Darling, Andy Sedlak and
Jamie Bibby.
Assists came from Jeff VanBergen,
Paul Denomme, Jeff Smale and
f'e,7 Chad Snell.

the rest of the scoring, as they
fired one in the first, two in the
second and one more in the third
for the 4-1 win.
Their next home game is Jan. 23
at 12:45 p.m. against Goderich and
their final game before the playoffs
is at home Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. versus
Stratford Northwestern.
