Five Zurich bowlers advance to 2004 open

ZURICH - Five Zurich Town and
Country bowlers are looking forward
with great anticipation to competing in
the Ontario Five Pin Bowlers' Association
(OFPBA) top level Provincial Open
Championships for the Sidney L.
Morris Awards at I-Iamilton's 48 -lane
Sherwood Centre on next Easter
weekend.
Open competition will include
men's, women's and mixed
teams plus men's and women's
singles with winners advancing to the
national championships. All bowlers
must be 19 years of age and be a OFPBA
member.
The five qualifying Zurich bowlers, fol-
lowing a recently completed 20 game,
total pinfall Bluewater Association Zone
rolloff include Mike Cregan on the men's
team, Laurie Stanlake women's singles
and women's team, Les Coleman, Ted
Stanlake and Penny Crawford 011 the
mixed team. Sixteen zones from across
the province will be competing. Last
year's provincial women's singles win-
ner, Port Elgin's Dianne Trask will once
again represent Bluewater in sin-
gles.
A memory from 1966
On Dec. 27, 1966, Grand
Bend's Ron Dann bowled 12
consecutive strikes in the first
game of the Tuesday East
Hamilton Road League at
London's Roll -A -Bowl lanes to complete
his first-ever perfect 450 game and fin-
ished the night with a 1,016 triple for a
339 per game average. Dann received
several OFPBA awards.

annual Ontario 5 -Pin
Bowlers' Association
League Executive Zone
Tournament.
Congratulations to the

+43 over her 3 game total

age.
They will go to the
05PBA provincial champi-
onships Feb. 28 in
Hamilton at Sherwood
Lanes. On this past
Sunday, Lucan Lanes was
host to the 05PBA High -
Low Doubles Zone

teams.

The Exeter Novice Red ringette team won the Woolwich Sugar Ring tournament
on the weekend beating Woolwich 5-3, Waterloo 10-2, Kitchener 14-4 and Owen
Sound 11-9 in the gold medal game. Exeter was behind 9 to 6 with five minutes
left of the game before Rachel Mattucci got the rally started at 4:56, with Tess
Atthill scoring two more and Becca Reid scoring the winner at 3:08. Owen
Sound attempted to tie it up with the extra man on the ice and Atthill then
scored on a empty net . It was a great game by both teams. Congratulations girls
