Drinking and driving
offences
HURON COUNTY — Huron OPP were busy conduct-
ing RIDE programs in Huron County New Year's Eve.
An officer conducting a RIDE checkpoint on Mill Road
in Bluewater Dec. 31 at 9:45 p.m. stopped an east-
bound 1990 GMC pickup truck. The officer was pulling
the vehicle over when several bottles were seen being
tossed out the windows. The driver was approached
and showed signs of alcohol consumption. The driver
failed an alcotest and was arrested for driving a motor
vehicle with over 80 mgs. He was taken for breath
tests that found him over the legal limit.
Darcy Rathwell, 22, of Bluewater has been charged
with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs. He will
attend court in Goderich Feb. 16.
Blyth
On Jan. 1 at 2 a.m. a 2004 Chevy Cavalier was
stopped on Blyth Road near Blyth. The driver had an
odour of alcohol on his breath and was given the road-
side test indicating a warn. The 53 -year-old male from
Central Huron had his driver's license suspended for
12 hours.
Huron East
The last offence took place on Hydro Line Road in
Huron East Jan. 1 at 3:30 a.m. when an officer con-
ducting another RIDE program stopped an eastbound
1984 Olds 98 Regency. The driver was arrested for
impaired driving and taken for breath tests that indi-
cated he had consumed more than three times the
legal limit.
Andrew Barnes, 32, of Huron East has been charged
with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with
over 80 mgs. He will attend court in Goderich Feb. 16.
Vehicle stolen from
roadside
BLUEWATER — On Jan. 1 at 4:30 p.m. a vehicle was
reported stolen from the side of Mill Road in
Bluewater near the intersection of Babylon Line.
The investigating officer learned the victim's vehicle,
a white 1990 Mercury Sable, had broken down the
night before and was left on the side of the roadway.

Female experiences
indecent act
EXETER — On Jan. 3 at approximately 7:15 p.m. a
19 -year-old female was walking home from work on
Victoria Street in Exeter when an older male exposed
himself to her. The female, who was approaching the
entrance to the community centre in Exeter, saw an
older male standing on the roadway leading into the
facility. She passed the male and felt the man was fol-
lowing when he yelled at her. She turned around and
saw the man had exposed his genitals to her and
made a vulgar comment. She yelled back at the man
who then fled the scene through the local schoolyard.
Huron OPP are looking for assistance in finding the
man who is described as being in his 30-40's with
greasy, slicked back shoulder length brown hair, 5'7"
tall weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was
wearing blue jeans and a hockey jersey that was
mainly blue with yellow and white sections.

Cab driver allegedly
assaulted
SOUTH HURON — On Jan. 2 at approximately 12
p.m. OPP were contacted by a local taxi service over a
problem with a fare. The officer attended a residence
on Line 17 in South Huron and was told the 39 -year-
old driver of Star Cab had picked up a fare and driven
him to this residence. An argument allegedly broke
out over the fee and during the process an alleged
assault took place.
As a result, the officer arrested Bradley Dietrich, 28,
of South Huron and charged him with assault. He will
attend court in Exeter March 25.
Middlesex RIDE update
Middlesex OPP kicked off the festive RIDE season
Nov. 28 and conducted RIDE stops in more than 18
geographical locations in Middlesex County.
In that time:
• 3,000 vehicles were stopped
• Two people were charged with criminal code alco-
hol-related offences.
• Three people had their driver's licence privileges
suspended.
Award scholarships in Lucan Biddulph
Members of the Biddulph 150 Committee presented two scholarship cheques for $240 each to post -sec-
ondary students from Lucan Biddulph Dec. 31. From the left are Jackie Martens, Allyson Squire, Marguerite

Acres is attending Ridgetown college in the veterinary technician program. Any student from Lucan Biddulph

Male charged
with mischief
SOUTH HURON — On Jan. 1 shortly after 1 a.m. OPP
were called to a house party on Centre Street in
Dashwood over a mischief complaint.
According to Huron OPP, an intoxicated male attend-
ing a house party in Dashwood required a ride home,
which he received from a sober male.
When he was dropped off at his residence in
Dashwood, the intoxicated male retrieved something
from the trunk and then allegedly put his fist through
the rear window of a 1990 Ford Mustang.
That morning the man attended the Exeter OPP
office where he was charged with mischief under
$5,000.
