THAMES ROAD - Church Service
Rev. Carter was in charge of Epiphany Sunday church
service on Sunday morning. The Introit was sung, peo-
ple shook hands and Rev. Carter gave greetings and the
announcements. She led in the Call to Worship, Prayer
of Approach, and the Affirmation of Faith.
Zachary Kadey lit the Christ Candle. David
Cunnington, Alice Cann and Rev. Carter put figures in
the stable. Rev. Carter told the children a story. The
choir sang, 'That Perfect Light,' accompanied by Jean
Hodgert on the piano. Psalm 72 was read. The Scripture
reading was John 1: 1-9. Rev. Carter took the lead with
the choir being the echo.
Melonie Miller gave a Minute For Mission. She brought
items for the Food Bank forward as Robert Bray and
Ray Cann received the offering. Everyone read the
Commissioning and Rev. Carter pronounced the
Benediction. Everyone
sang, 'May the God of
Hope Go With Us.'
The flowers in the church on Sunday were placed
there in memory of Gerry Cottle's son and Leona Cottle's
grandson, Brandon. Sympathy is extended to them and
their families.

New high blood pressure guidelines specify normal
pressure is 120/80 to 129/84. "High normal" ranges
from 130/85 to 139/89. Drug therapy is usually
started when the diastolic pressure (lower number)
consistently is above 100 or the systolic pressure (uppe number) is
greater than 160. If you haven't had your blood pressure checked
recently, get it done. It can save your life.
Drug companies are always looking for new ways of lowering
cholesterol. A new drug came out recently that inhibits the absorption of
cholesterol from the intestine. Studies show it reduces this absorption by
54%.
Although Health Canada has said it many times, it's worth repeating.
Any products containing ephedra or ephedrine should not be used.
Consumed for their stimulant effect, these drugs can cause many
problems including strokes, heart attacks, seizures, psychoses and
even death. This drug is illegal in Canada.
Reason #532 to stop smoking: About 11% of all infants show signs of
colic. However, if mothers smoked more than 15 cigarettes per day
during pregnancy or after the baby's birth, the risk of colic doubled.
One of the nice things about being a pharmacist is that we get to talk to
people every day about their health and medications. It's a job we
enjoy.
