was a chest of silver from their fam-
ily.

stated that between $1,400 and
$1,500 will be realized for the build-
ing fund from the frolic. -
Music for the dance was tarnished
by 1Murdock's .orchestra, 3 prizes
were given away for best dancing
couples on the floor. One of the pri-
zes iwas won by .Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Hodgert, Exeter.' The ofI czars were
pleased with the results of the frolic
as the weather conditions were not
of the best and they appreciated the
attendance of the many hundreds
who ttended to lend their support to
the community building.

Gingerich's mother down east, and
attended the funeral. The sympathy
extended to them from their many

Little Sherry Jane Young, had her
tonsils removed in Clinton Hospital,
last week -end and is getting along
fine at her grandmother's home.
Mr. Harold Finlay wears a broad
smile, a baby dughter came to brigh_
ten their home.
Mr. Leon Jeffrey visited his mother
in Zurich who is quite ill.
The many friends of Mrs. Douglas
are glad to hear she was brought

in a London Hospital recently :for

Hurt In Crash
Harry Watson, 83, of Grand Bend
was admitted to Memorial Hospital,
in St. Thomas Monday last, suffering
injuries received when the car he was
driving left Highway 74, three miles
north of New Sarum to crash down
two trees. According to police, Wat-
son was traveling north on the New
Sarum Nilestown road when his
machine failed to negotiate the curve
at the top of a hill. The car shot off
the west side of the road, knocked
down the trees and rolled over, coin-
ing to re: t on its right side. The
injured man, alone at the time, was
pinned in the wreckage and was ex-
tricated by an unidentified passing
imotorist who took him to hospital in
St. Thomas. He did not lose eonsci
New Cottage
A new cottage was erected on the
bowling green, Main street, an Hen-
sall Friday afternoon 18th and will
be used by the Chamber of C.ommer_
ce. Keys to the cottage, won by
Jack Drysdale, at the Canadian Nat-
ional exhibition, were presented to
him by H. J. Tier and A. A. Brown,
manager of the Holiday, Co. Toronto
Jack presented the keys to R. H.
Middleton, president of the Chamb-
er of Commerce.
No One Injured
No one was injured on Friday
night when a truck and a car collid-
ed at an intersection. Collision oc-
curred when a truck driven by Thos.
Baird, Grand Bend, travelling east to
load gravel, collided with a car driv-
en by Arthur Preszcator, Exeter. The
force, of the impact sent the Preszc-
ator car careening across the street,
crashing into a ditch. Damage to the
car was estimated by police at more
than $150 while damage to truck at
$50.00. Provincial Constable 'Elmer
Zimmerman, Exeter,. and Chief Con-
stable Harburn of Hensel! investig-
ated.

Many Attend Frolic
Hundreds attended the monster
frolic held in the new community
building here last Friday night. St.
Marys Clown Band provided some
real entertainment and received a
big ovation. Bingo, games of chalice,
were some of the high lights of l.he
affair. Motion pictures token by Jack
Drysdale were shown, taken of the
building of the Arena from the lay_,
ing of the cement and progress thr-
oughout. R. H. Middleton, president
of the Chamber of Commerce and
E. L. Mickle, chairman of the frolic
spoke. Fifteen valuable prizes were
drawn for and the winners were as
follows;

Christmas Seal

For the fourth time, the Executive •of the Duron County
Christmas Seals •Committee as asking the citizens of Huron
County to support the Christmas. Seal campaign, The sole
purpose of the campaign is to raise funds to carry On. the
fight against tuberculosis. The strategy of the fight is detel-Y

pital admissions the installation of X-r'sy equipment in our
hospitals, and provision for the treatment of active cases iu
the Adam Beck Memorial Sanatorium at Byron. The first of
these projects has teen .carried out in. Enron ,Ant ,a cost PA
$G,000.00 out of Christmas Seals funds. The second and
third projects are in hand at a cost of approximately 2,000.00
a year. .1t. was nd't till this year that the last project -was ac-
knowledge as a drain on our Huron County Chrisienas Seal
Funds. It was by way of recognizing services in the past, and
by 'wavy of provision for the future,'when the Huron Executive
,contributed $10,000.00 .out of Christmas Seals funds to the
building of the Adam Beck Memorial Sanatorium at Byron.
Ala a definite project for our 1.949-50 Christmas Seals
campaign, the County Executive is undertaking to install X-
ral' equipment in the Clinton Hospital at a cost of $5,100.00,
so that a new regular chest clinic service can be provided. „ It
is also conteinplated that a similar grant will be made to the
new Exeter Hospital when the time comes.
The balance in the treasury at the present time is
$3,000.00.
It is hoped that the people of Huron will respond' to the
Christmas Seals campaign as in other year with a total, over.
the whole County, of Seven or Eight Thousand Dollars:.Thi;
will enable the Executive to carry on the fight against tuber -
eulosis according to plan.
As in the last campaign, the Lions Clubs are; giving very
valuable assistance. •
Give generously. Make this another successful canpafgm.
Do your part for the prevention and the cure of tuberculosis
in Huron County.
