''.Aged Resident Passes.
As we go to press we are advised
of the ,passing on Tuesday night of
1;Ienrt•Badaur, an aged and long liv-
ing resident of the community.. We
are not aware as to• how funeral ar-
rangeznents are being made. Mr.
Bedour had been in residence in the
home of Mrs. Peter Koehler.
Taking Down Tank
Locdl workmen have been doing
some hard work in trying to take
down the old water supplytank in
town .which seemingly has served its
purpose since the new and larger
tank ,purchased from the Airport,
has been erected and doing its work
nicely., Datarts, and O'Brien, nave re-
moved the metal tap, axle placed the•
fancy crown and wind vane on the
newly erected tank. This lane piece
of workmanship was done ,,by Mr.
William F. Braun, now of Forest,
and seems as good as when it was
first erected. However taking down
the tank which is of concrete is not
ao easy a task, as the wall at the Mase
is about a foot and a half thick, and
then there is another wall or a few
inches inside of that, which takes a
lot of chisseling to get through. But
Milt Dietz, whose father erected the
tank, the late Mr. Samuel Dietz, has
a whole punched through near the
bottom, and what his plans of proced-
ure of taking this huge structure of
concrete down, we know not of. But
we wish him a lot of luck in his
undertaking, as it will look a lot
better if this could be removed.
Zurich Fall Fair
As we rush up the last few lines
of type this Wednesday evening, we
can only remark that Zurich Fall
Fair of ,1949 has now made history.
In the past some thirty years we
have seen many kinds of weather
for this annual event, and the Dir-
ectors pave this, like last year shov-
ed the date ahead to avoid bad wea-
ther, leer~tees-rnyinto one
of the •ivoiSC aTtei i,dons° zine "eotrin-
look for so early in the season. At
fair time between one and two o'-
clock, black clounds gathered and a
downpour of rain was had, then it
cleared very nicely and the Fair was
just going nicely, when at quarter to
four another wind storm and rain
which lasted for several hours. wash-
ed out everything. Earlier in the
afternoon for a time there was hail
or snow mixed with the rain, but it
did not hinder the fair, until the
final one at four. There were a lot
of fine exhibits, especially so in the
horseflesh. line, as some real show
horses were present, cattle, hogs and
poultry were also of very choice
quality, and a fine display of sheep.
We think the attendance was the best
for some time, however statistics will
show that when tabulated. The
weatherman surely plays a big pax t
in the making of a fall fair.
