THE ELECTION
Monday being Dominion wide day
of election for our Ottawa Parlia-
ment. And "although politicians weir
tell us this and that beforehand, but
on election day the ballots speak much
louder than all this other noisy
talk, and so it was on Monday, when
.the Liberal party was swept back in-
to power with probably the largest
majority given to any uarty since
confederation. The vote thn3ugh-
out the Dominion was largo and the
St. Laurent Government will have
no difficulty in passing legislature
on account of opposition. We trust
that for the next five years the same
prosperous times will be enjoyed as
during the past years. The third
party, known as the C.C.F. have pra-
ctically lost their identity, and have
too small a following at Ottawa, to
be of any account. The race in our
riding of Huron—Perth was a nip
and tuck affair until the last reports
were in between the Liberal, Andy
McLean and the P.C., Elgin McKin-
ley, as early reports showed .McKin-
ley leading, but later on McLean
rolled up a majority of 171, this
floes not include the two, Airports of
Clinton and • Centralia which were
not available at the time. And which
will be reported later on. Hay Twp.
gave the Liberal candidate about
half the majority that it did at the
last election, four years ago., and
so we will all do our daily tasks and
make the best of our daily living,
and we shall have goad government
at Ottawa, the main thing is, are
we doing out part to make this an
even better world to live in.
Hay Twp. McKinley McLean Peters
