SUCCESSFUL RALLY
A successful "Youth. for Christ"
rally was held Saturday night in the
Clinton Town Hall, with an estim-
ated nearly 1200 attending from var-
ious surrounding centres as far as
Goderich, Stratford, •W.ingham and
Exeter. Almost all the church de-
nominations were represented with
many ministers attending.
The sound picture "China Chal-
lenge" provoked much serious '+
thought. It showed .the desperate
conditions in China, both physically
and spiritually and the need for our
help there as well as in many other
1 countries of the world. Y. E. C. is
meeting this need as much as it can.
It is operating in 55 countries of the
world and in many places is the main
if not the only, active agency for the
gospel. A. large collection was tak-
en for China Relief.
An invitation to remain for an or-
ganizational after -meeting was given
and a large number remained. A
temporary executive committee was
named to act for three months at
which tine election of a permanent
'executive will take place. The mem-
bers are as follows: Director, Rev.•
G. W. Medley, Goderich; Sec. Treas.
Mrs. G. Haines, Blyth; Song Leader,-.
Rev. H. G. Roadway, Listowel, Rev.
Mr. Beach, Grand Bend, E. Mows -
eau, Kippen, R. L. MacMillen, Bay-
field, C. E. Talbot, Bayfield.
A lunch was served and enjoyed
by all. Plans were made to meet in
Clinton once a month. Announcem-
ents of coming dates and feature at-
tractions will be made in local news-
papers and over the radio.

on Sunday morning in the Evangel-
ical church when four babies receiv-
ed ,baptism, also a Mothers' Day Ser-
vice, with Rev. H. E. Roppel, pastor.
The choir sang an appropriate num-
ber for the occasion with Mrs. Milton

Had Narrow Escape
Little 'Gregory Willert, youngest
son of Mr and Mrs Leelanct Willert
had a narrow escape on Saturday
when he was struck by a car, while
attempting to cross the street. For-
tunately he was only shaken up with
a little bump, and is feeling fine a-
gain.
New Residents
A new family has moved to town
from London, Mr. and 'Mrs. G. R.
Bates and daughter during the past
week have occupied the dwelling
quarters of the Thiel Block. Mr
Bates will occupy the store part of
the building as a sales room for
pianos, cleaners and other lines of
Which he has had years of experience
We welcome them to Zurich and
tra t they will like it here.
Campaign Going Well!
There will be no report this week
as to contributions toward the Com-
munity Centre Building Project, as
the canvassers are just nicely or-
ganized, but the first report will be
in next week's issue. The picture
looks bright according to the few
contributions which are in at pres-
ent, and the prospects are, that by
the end of May, we can took forward
with a clear vision, the realization of
a new Community Centre.
Dogs and More Dogs
MTirsy; complaints have been made
about the dog nusiance in our village
who are roaming on the flower beds
and shrubs and destroying the same,
which is very annoying to the folk
that take an interest in beautifying
their surroundings. One lady coun-
ted six dogs in her friend's flower
beds. What discouraging news and
then see the results. Owners of dogs
should keep thein at home, and rem-
ember the "Golden Rule" and put it
into practice.—A citizen.
