Returned from Trip
Mr and Mrs Jacob Gingerieh and
son, Mr and Mrs. Gerald Gingel.ch,
have returned home after a pleasant
week with their elder son Cyril and
wife, who are attending the Eastern
Mennonite Colleege at Harrisonburg,
Va. The mountains along the trip
through the Sate of Pennsalvania
were quite high and one must like
mountain driving to enjoy the scen-
eries. The trip was made .safely and
a lovely time was spent together, for
which all are grateful.
Auto Accident..
A very unfortunate accident oc-
curred a mile and a quarter west of
town, at the Bronson line intersect-
ion when Mr. Paul Hess in company
with his wife of Toronto, and his
mother, Mrs. A. F. Hess of town were
travelling west on 33 Highviay, when
they got into collision with a car in
the hands of Paul O'Brien of Lon-
don, -who was travelling south. Dur-
ing the impact the two women in the
Hess car were thrown out and badly
shook up and taken to the Clinton
Hospital where Mrs. Andrew F. Hess
seems to be injured the most, as the*
x-rays showed slte had several fract-
ured ribs and her hip is also injured.
lTrs. Paul Hess has injured legiments
and otherwise badly shaken up. Mrs
A. F. Hess was conveyed to the hos-
pital by the Hoffman ambulance of
Dashwood, while Mrs. Paul Hess was
conveyed to the Hospital by the West-
lake ambulance. Both ladies are rest-
ing nicely now and convalescing as
well as could be hoped for. Damages
to the Hess car was estimated at
$200 and about $400 to the front of
the O'Brien car. Provincial Constable
Jack Ferguson of Exeter was the offi-
ciating officer. We wish the injured
every success and a speedy recovery.
.Mrs Emma Block, sister of Mrs. A.
F. Hess is assisting at the Hess home
in town.

Had Fine Easter Program
A very effective Easter Cantata
pageant was given in St. Peter's
Lutheran church on Sunday evening
to 'a Iarge audience, namely, "The
Easter Garden," by the members of
the choir and .Sunday' School. Every-
one took their part well. The plat-
form was beautiful decorated with
plants and cut flowers resembling a
lovely flower garden. 'The service
was- ,,brought to a close with their
pasta., Rev. E. Heimrich pronounc-
ing the Benediction.

Community
Recreation Centre
At .the public meeting held In the
Tki n .Hall,. Monday evening the 18,
lthes .people 'oaf Hay Township endors-
ed the idea of building a Community
Recreation Centre and chose the site
for structure, by a ballot vote of
approximately 90 per cent. The
location of the Centre will be behind
the Public School, just two blocks
off Main Highway running through
the Village. The general opinzon is
that the location is ideal and it will
prove to be just that as time goes
on. It has been proven time and a-
gain that such Centres, built near
schools, are the most successful from
every point of view. It is the hope
of the Cam munity Centre Committee
that each and every person will get
behind this venture and do all he or
she can to make it become the suc-
cess it should be. The meeting was
under the chairmanship of Mr Jacob
Haberer, who called on Dr. E. G.
Pleva, Professor of Geography of the
University of Western Ontario, to
address the people of Hay on- the
subject of Community Centres, of
which he is an expert. His advise
was apparently taken to heart, if the
result of the balloting on the ques-
tions put before the people is any
indication.' (Some people might ask
just what does this Community Cen-
tre include or incorporate. The an-
swer to that is a large Hall or Aud-
itorium with a covered rink or arena
adjoining. Then too there will be an
Athletic Field consisting of a baseball
diamond and race track. These gro-
unds will be used in future for the
Fall Fairs and the Arena portion of
the Centre as a show house for ail
farm products, etc., etc.)
Very shortly the Committee in
charge of the building of the Centre
will organize girotins of canvassers to
call on the people of Hay and we
urge each and every person to give
just as much as possible towards this
most important of building programs
ever' held in this Township. Each
and every d,liar contributed towards
this Building Fund is deducted from
your 1049 Income 'Fax, since it is
considered to be of a Charitable.
