NEW DIAL SPOT
FOR LONDON STATION
Enormously increased rural cov-
erage in its broadcast area will be af-
forded with the switch to 980 kilocy-
cles by Station CFPL in London, on
Sunday, February 20th. Chief Eng-
ineer Percy Field and technicians
from the RCA -VICTOR Company
who, have been installing the 980
kilocycle equipment for the past few
months have just .completed tests thr-
oughout the 14 counties or Western
Ontario. They announce that test
signals on the lower dial position
have shown that the CFPL daytime
broadcast will come in at distant
points with as much as ten times the
strength of the old 1570 frequency.
This means- that many popular CFPL
daytime features will reach tens ok
thousands of new listeners. Among
the broadcasts which will find a
ready audience in the farming eau
niunity is the noore-time program fe-
aturing Bob Mason "eadio's tallest
singing cowboy." and his Western
Swingbillies. The 6'.-7" Mason is al-
ready familiar to Western Ontario
audiences through successful series of
concert engagements. Following
Bob Mason at 12.10, 'Monday through
Friday, is CFPL'e Farm. Director, Roy
Jewell. Roy always has news of in-
terest to farmers, together with the
latest market acid livestock quotat-
ions. Women will enjoy Ashyell's
chats at 3:05 p.m. when Mary dispen-
ses recipes, household hints, tidbits
about women in the news and SOM..
god mule.
Starting back earlier in the day,
out of town 'Waters will join those,
in and around London for 15:cob Rein—
hart and the 9:00 A.M. news — the.
first major newscast ef the day tin
include complete coverage of Wes-
tern Ontario highlights. Another
morning broadcast of interest as.
Daphne Dye's bright and eltatty pro-
gram "May We 'Come In ?," heard.
Tuesdays and :Fridays at 1045 ann.
In fact, right around the clock, the
new CFPL frequency of 980 kilo-
cycles will mean better service and
better listening for Western Ontare
io's radio audience.
