TWO WERE ACCIDENT VICTIMS
Two- Huron County residents are in

suffering severe injuries received
in tWo separate accidents. Tony

shed leg when the graveltruck tail-
gate 'on which he was standing gave
way, his leg crashed down between
the tailgate and the gravel box. Dr.
J. G. Dunlop of Exeter gave first aid.
The injured man was taken to the hos
pital by the road gang foreman. Miss
Mattie Ellis, Hensall, on Friday .re-
ceived a fracthred shoulder when she
slipped on ice back of her home as
she was carrying out ‘ashes.
Agricultural' Highlights

Huron County Federation of Agri-
culture congratulates Velma Fergu-
son, of Hensall n winning the zone
contest in public speaking, and wish
her every success in the 'provincial
finals on January 5th in Torspto.
The first meeting of the new board
of directors for .1949 was held in the
Agricultural Board Room, on Friday
Dec. 17th with a good turn out and
W R Lobb, president, presiding. Af-
ter the new faces introduced them-
selves, Elgin McKinley reported on
the zone Farm Radio Forum meeting
in London. The president reported on
the last Toronto Directors' meeting
before calling on the Secy. to report
on the progress to date or the Auto
insurance development.
Robt. :McMillan of :Seaforth- told
the gathering of plans to hold a folk
school at the McMillan Home, c.om.

where they had supper with another

returned' home to Zurich the same
night, which was quite an achieve-
ment -at this time of year, as Toron-

The annual Christmas concert of
the Blake Union school was held on
Tuesday evening. with. Miss Audrey
Heimrick the- teacher in charge and
was a decided - success. The school
room was janimed to the doors. Rev.
S,olornon Baechier acted as chairman.
A :mixed' program was very well ren-
dered. by the. pupils. who took their
parts splendid. A lovely Christmas
tree decorated along with the color-
ed lights, and the posters made -by the
scholars, gave inviting- effect fox
the occasion. Santa Claus made his
appearance at the end of tee pro-
gram) and fattened the children with
beautiful gifts including their teach-
er Miss Heimrich. With the merf.y.
Christmas wish to every one, the con-
cert was brought to a close.

Lions Club News
Monday night was the first real
Christmas Supper of the season for
the Lions when the Dominion House
put -on -a real chicken dinner, trimmed
off with the real plum pudding, and
how those Lions did enjoy it all.
Lion Jack reported that the Christ -
mos Seal campaign was going along
nicely with good respond. At the
cloSe of the meeting the Blue,. Top
Brewers of Kitchener had two men
up :and showed some moving pictur-
es of -their plant, along with other
Shorts. It was a long evening's pro-
gram.

Saturday afternoon VMS another
big event in the Town Hall when the
Lions gave their annual Santa Claus
doings for all school children and
