Christmas Is Near
With Christmas only a week ft',
we are hardly conscious that thi-
important holiday season is so clots..,
The nice springlike weather of Mon
Clay was followed by a blanket of
about six iii he; s, heavy snow in
this dietrI'.t, and colder weather has
come down from the north, and it
looks like a bit of real winter wea-
ther, with a storm brewing, • but we
hope next Thursday will be a fine
day, with open roads, which will
make the day all the more happy.

PRICE DECONTROL STAYS . ! .
Ottawa - Finance Minister Ab-
bett regretfully shook hie head to a f .
demand that price controls be re-
established. That was his answer to
more than 60 housewives and just
plain ordinary consumers who crow-
ded into his office to ask what the
Government was going to do about
the rising cost -of -living. A change in
the constitution would be necessary
before the Government could em-
bark on a system of controls in peace
time, said the Minister. Then a cry
went up. "Well, why not change the
constitution then?" The delegation
said they represented 5 organizati•,
ons, including trade unions, welfare •
PREMIER'S CHOICEorganizations.
