church are having a Christmas tea
bazaar and baking sale on Saturday
afternoon, December 6th at Pfile's
Hall, Daswhood from 3 to 5 p.m.

Double Wedding at Crediton
The double wedding ceremony was
performed by Rev. J. S. Burn, of
Crediton, formerly of Dashwood, at
the Evangelical parsonage, in Cred-
iton, when Mary MacGregor, eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mac-.
Gregor, Parkhill, became the bride
of Ralph Edward Weber, son of Mr
and Mrs. Daniel Weber, Dashwood;
and Joyce Desjardine, only daughter
of .Mr.`and. Mrs. Lesume Desjardine,
Grand Bend, became the bride of
Gerald been Mason, only son of Mr
aid Mrs. Wm..Mason, Dashwood. Miss
MacGregor chose a gown ox white
satin fashioned with sweetheart nee
-
line, and gathered skirt appliqued
with roses. Miss Desjardine was
gowned in white satin and wore an
embroidered satin veil caught .to a
headdress of orange blossoms.. She
wore a corsage of American Beauty
roses. Each couple attended the
other. A reception was held at the
Hotel London, and later the couples
left for a motor trip through the
middle Western States. For traveling
Mrs. Weber choose a grey wool suit
with black accessories, and Mrs.
Mason wore a turquoise dressmaker
suit with black accessories.

Bean prices are soaring at Hen-
sall, Dealers are paying $6.00 a
bushel for No. 1 beans and are giv-
ing free trucking. This is the highest
price that has been paid on this
market for ,30 years. ,

Dick spent a few days recently with
Mr. Dick's brother, John Dick at

The Hensall Boy Scouts netted
$63.00 from their sale ,of apples on
Saturday last.
Poppy Day was observed here
'Saturday last when the local branch
of the Canadian Legion made its
annual appeal to the people oi this
community. The Poppy Fund serves
a two -fold purpose. The money rais-
ed is used entirely for relieve unus-
ual distress among war veterans, and
the poppies are manufactured by
handicapped veterans to help them
obtain a livelihood. The poppy tag-
gers were the Hensall girl Guides
who did a rushing business.
Mrs. Jean .Cawthorpe is a patient
at Victoria Hospital, London, in the
interests of her health,
'The W.M.S. of the United, church
held their Thankoffering service on
Sunday morning Nov. 16th when the
guest speaker was Miss Edith Spar -
ling, Missionary from China,' who is
home on furlough.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace MacArthur
of Oshawa, were recent visitors with
Mr. and Mrs 'William Pepper.
Mr. and Mrs. John Pfaff have ren-
ted Mr. Fred Datars' dwelling on the
highway and expect to move shortly.
Mrs. Alex. Buchanan will observe
her 88th birthday on Wednesday,
November 19th. .
Mrs. Caherine Baker will celebrate
her 95th birthday on Tuesday, Nov-
ember 25th.
Miss Minnie Reid left on Saturday
last -for Florida, to spend the win-
ter months there.
On Monday evening, Nov. 17th an
organ recital was held In Carmel
Presbyterian church by lur. Max.
MaGee of London, with Mr. Gayle
Gordon as violinist.
Dedicate New Organ
Carmel Presbyterian, church dedi-
cated on Sunday morning last a new
Hammond electric organ, as a mem-
orial to members, of the -congregation
who served, and died, in two world
wars. The Hensall 'Branch of the
Canadian Legion were in attendande
at the service, which -was conducted
by the Minister, Rev. P.,A. Ferguson
with .Mrs. M. C. Dougall church 'or-
ganist presiding at the console,
Veterans Norris McEwan and
Douglas :Sangster unveiled the org-
an for dedication. The Minister spoke
on "Our Duty of :Remembrance";and
the choir for their anthem sang "It
shall not be, in vain" the:, guest solo-
ist Rev.. R.1f..San:derson. sang "Lest
we Forget." At the evening service.
of a choral nature the Minister spoke
on "Our Duty of ,Praise." A vocal
duett was sung by Mrs. W. Brown
and Mrs. Harold' Bell entitled "In
the Garden." ,Rev. R. H. Sanderson
rendered two solos. "Rock of ;Agess"
and "I gave my Life for Thee." The
choir rendered a selection with Miss
Alma Bell; soloist.

friends to an oyster supper in the
Ton Hall. Mr. Leslie Saunders of
Toronto was the guest speaker.
Mr. Reheny Larson, who has spent
the past three month in the West, has
returned home,

ada, is the guest of his matter, Mrs
Win, Metcalf. Miss Jessie Metcalf of
Detroit also visited her mother.
Mrs. N. W. Woods who spent a
week at ;Hensall, has returned some.
The veterans of world wars :1 and
2 marched to divine service in the
United Church on 'Sunday morning
last and a short service was held in
the Town Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
When Rev SStotesbury conducted a
short service after which the veter-
ans and school children marched to
the Cairn. Mrs. E. R. Weston placed
a wreath at the Cairn.
Purchase Much -Needed Pumper
The Police Village of Bayfield has
purchased the fire pumper and traiI-
er owned •by the Town of Goderich
for $1,000. This action is expected
to be of material assistance in battel
iing the fire demon in the village, the
experience suffered in connection
with the fire which razed the Ritz
Hotel not having been entrrely for-
gotten in the community. Headed by
Lloyd Scotehmer, a deputation from
Bayfield attended Goderich Town Co-
uncil meeting Friday evening Iast.
After consideration in committee of
the 'whole, Council set the price at
$1,000.
