CONSIDER PURCHASE OF OLD
PEOPLE'S HOME " -
According to recent reports, the
Coombe Home, Hespler landmark,
and for many years used as a child-
ren's home by the Children's Aid
Society is being considered purchas-
ed by the Lutheran Church. It would
be used as an Old People's Home,
such as suggested by the Synod con-
vention of Ladies' Aid Societies held
at St. Peterfis Church at Preston
recently.

home from Victoria ,Hospital, Lon-
don where she has been receiving
treatments. 'We are pleased to report
that she is much improved

a few days with friends in London

Mrs. Luft in Hanover.
Mrs. Tillie Resterneyer is visiting
with friends in Windsor and Detroit.

Sunday visitors in Baden and Kit-
chener.
Miss Anna Morenz o.f Detroit, is
spending a few weeks with her sis-
ter Mrs. Edith Mason.

St. Thomas spent Sunday with relat-
ives and friends here.
Congratulations to Dr, Donald
Oestreicher who received the degree
of Master of Science at the recent
Autumn Convocation of the Univer-
sity of Western Ontario.
Miss Ida Zimmer left on Sunday
for Portland, Oregon where she in-

Hunters Left
Dir. Gordon Turbull, Bruce Eagel-
son of Grand Bend, Mr. Ward Fritz
of town left on Wednesday morning
for the latter's island in the Parry
Sound district where they intend to
arrange for a deer hunting season
which will open next week. We wish

Had Arm Injured
•
Miss Audrey Heimrich, teacher of
the Blake Public School •had her left
arm cut at the wrist on Friday af-
ternoon by opening a window, at
the school house. A very interesting
Hallowe'en party was enjoyed by
teacher and pupils, the afternoon
was happily spent and almost at the
close of the program the teacher re-
4eived the injury, but •medical aid
was immediately given and the pup-
ils were very glad to meet their tea-
cher on duty Monday morning.

Successful Halowe'en Party
A very successful Hallowe-en-party
was held in the St. Peter's Lutheran
Church basement Friday night when
their Sunday School officials enter-
tained their .Sunday School children
to a joyable Hollowe'en party. A
playlet was rendered, instrumentals
and other numbers were given suit-
able for all ages. Treats were receiv-
ed by the children which made them
very happy. The little tots gathered
around their tables with their little
chairs to enjoy sandwiches, cake and
hot cocoa. The adult children enjoyed
the same refreshments and plenty of
it. This was served by the teachert!
of th Sunday School, The time tick-
ed away only too rapidly, adjurn-
ment came far too soon, when they
returned to their homes, very satis-
fied of the fine Hallowe'en evening

Lions Club News
The Halowe'en Dance put on by
the Lions on Friday evening was a
tine success as a good patronage
was accorded and a most splendid
array of costumes was present.
At the supper meeting on Monday
evening the usual attendance was
present. The main speaker for the
occasion was Deputy District Gover-
nor, Vern Fullerton of Sarnia, who
spoke highly of the Zurich Club and
its activities, it was also his pleasure
to present to the locals the George
Boswell Trophy, a large silver cup,
which is held by the Club having the
highest points in attendance and ef-
ficiency. This will be the property
of the Zurich Club until some other
Club has a greater number of points
for the year. Considerable business
was discussed.
