' WINS SCHOLARSHIP The Huron County Federation of Agriculture Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a student from Huron "County, entering the Ontario Agricultural Cellegefi has been a- warded;' this' year to George Under- wood, only son of Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Underwood, of R. R. 1, Winghan and who operate a 300 acre farm, on which their son has had a large ex- perience of practical farming, which should help him at the College. Agricultural Highlights OF THE WEEK The members of Exeter Jr. Grain Club completed their project for the year, when they exhibited their grain entries at the Fall Fair. 16 boys took part in the Grain CIuib Project and 13 exhibited a bushel each of the Montcalm Barley at their Achieve- ment. Dat at the Fair. Jack Horn, of Woodham took first prize. One of the most interesting ex- hibits at the Seaforth Fall Fair was that of the Seaforth Boys' Swine Olub, -when they showed their young Yorkshire sows at Achievement Day. Elgin Sonn, Doan. Live Stock Grader of Toronto, judged the 32 young sows exhibited, and the parr exhib- ited by John iMcGavin, of Walton, scored first. The recent heavy rains have caused considerable delay to the bean harvest and will, no doubt, have a great effect on the quality of the -resulting sample. An early frost at this time would cause a serious loss to those fields which were seed- ed at rather a late date and are not yet mature. Despite the fact that 1947 Plowing Match is being held at some distance from Huron County, a number of local plowmen will be par- ticipating in this big event.
