held at the Trivitt Memorial Rectory
Exeter at noon, on -Saturday, Aug-
ust 23rd, when Helen Pauline, only
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton
Pfaff, of Exeter, became the bride
of Charles Ivor Harris, of London,
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Harris, of Kirkton. Rev. Charles
Langford officiated.

In Cavell church, Exeter, Velma
Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Webster of Exeter, was
married to Wiliam Henry Harvey,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Harvey
of Goderich, in a ceremony perfor-
med by Rev. Kenneth MacLean. Miss
Norma Knight played the wedding
music and Miss Mary Easton, cousin
of ibhe bride, was soloist. A recept-
ion was held in the basement of the
church and later the couple left for
a honeymoon to 'Southampton and
Owen Sound. On their return they
will reside in Exeter.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Masse and
daughter Clara, also Mrs. Cyrille
Masse and daughter Donna, all of
Detroit, spent the weekend with re-
latives here.
Mr. Fred Ducharme has left for
Windsor where he will attend the
wedding of his son Hubert.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ducharme spent
a few days in Windsor visiting with
their sisters and brothers.
The summer crops are about 'all
hauled in and threshed, and the
farmer who has his summer crop in
the grainaay bin is feeling himself
very lucky, when we think of the
many wet weeks we experienced
last spring, and after all Providence
is good to us 'all giving us seeding
time and harvest time.
With the passing of Labor Day,
the camping season is about over,
and most of the campers have scam-
pered off home for another year. It
was the most outstanding season in
our time for tourists and holidayers.

GOOD FRUIT FRUIT CROP
G. W. Laithwaite of Goderich, well
known Huron county horticulturist,
said that the fruit crop in Huron Co-
unty did not suffer to Amy great ex-
tent from the long spell of hot. dry
,weather. He saaid he would have
400 or 500 bushels of apples on his
farm. Pears and' apples will 'be smal-
ler this year than in other years but
should be of good quality, he said.
Auto Accident.
A taxi driven .b,y Dick Watason,of
Kippen collided broadside with e wear
driven by Jas. Kirkland of Usborne,
at the corner of William and Sanders
street, Exeter. Mr. Kirkland- Was
driving east and Watson north The
former was badly shaken up. .The
lights, grill and fenders of the :taxi
were damaged and Watson received
several fractured ribs: • In a 'motor
accident that snapped off a telephone
pole; a- hydro pole . - and fair fence
posts on the Crediton Road, William
Hartman, 14, of Mt. Carmel escap-
ed with only minor injuries. His 'oar
a 1947 model, was almost complete-
ly demolished. The driver was ret-
urning from Exeter and lost control
of the car on the slippery pavement.
It turned over three times •and came
to rest on its top. Hartman was tre-
ated at the scene for slight, -bruises
and 'cuts by a crew of telephone lines
men. Damage to the car is esibirnated
at $12,000. Constable John ;Ferguson
investigated.. ,
When the car in which he was a
passenger became out of control and
turned over on the 4ih coricessron of
Tuckersmith, near the farm" of W.R.
Archibald, Sunday night fast, James
Wamsley, Seaforth, suffered injuries
which necessitated • his removal to
the Seaforth Hospital. Driver of the
car, according to Constable Snell,
was Frank Murray of NleKillop.
GRAND BEND
Had Vacational Bible School
The Grand Bend Church of God
conducted a vacationti Bible School
for a week. This, Bible School was
un-demoninational. The attendance
was around 50 children representing
six different church denominations.
The teachers, under the leadership of
1 Mrs. Glen Beach, were able each
morning to have a Bible story, Bible
choruses and Bible verses. Each child
also made a Bible story book. A scr-
ipture text in wooden plaque and a
Bible picture in a. wall plaque. it was
a very enjoyable week and plans are
under way for next year, when the
Vacational Bible School will be con-
ducted for at least two weeks and
will accomodate more children. Mrs.
Beach -has had much experience in
i this kind of work, having conducted
them 'before, and is very much inter-
ested -in the work. At present her
sister, Mies Grace Vangundi rs a mis-
sionary, working among the Mex-
ican children in Mexico.
St. Joseph and Beaver Town
Mrs. Avila Ducharme and family
left Sunday for her home in Wind-
sor, •after slae.nding a few weeks with
Mr. and Mrs. F. Ducharme.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bedard of
Detroit, visited their mother, Mrs.
Joseph Bedard over the week -end
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meek of De-
troit spent a few days with their
