96th BIRTHDAY
Miss Elizabeth Scott, a member of
a widely known pioneer family of
McKillop Twp., observed her 96th
birthday at the home of her brother,
Mr. J. R. Scott Sunday last. Miss
Scott, who is in good health and in-
terested Irl current activities, was
born born at Roxboro, the daughter
of the late James Scott ani his wife.

a very lovely letter of gratefulness

Marjorie 'Hoffman who is now in
Brooks, Alberta. She is having a
lovely time and can hardly realize

TWO ARE INJURED WHEN
STAND DROPS
Under the weight of close to 100
spectators perched on its four tiers
of
seats, a baseball stand at Clinton
caret ed to the ground during a ball
game with ,the local and Hensall team
but . fortunately, only two persons
were Injured. Edgar Munroe, '73, well
known local barber, was sitting an
the third row seat when the accident
occurred. He was plunged to the
ground and suffered back and leg in-
juries as well as severe shock.
WIDENING THE "Y" ROAD
Under the supervision or County
Engineer R. Paterson, tine county
'road commission is having the county
road south of ,Egmondville, known as
the Kippen "Y" Road graded. An
extra 66 foot of land was acquired
for the widening of the r.oad. Trees
have been planted on this strip on
which are hydro and 'telephone poles
;Wheti''the rya lit finished; its surface
will be five feet above the bed of the
ditches. The sides slope will be grad-
ed so that cars will glide Into them
without upsetting; and will also im-
prove drainage and snow clearance

Hospital of that city in his 78th year
Born near Zurich, he farmed at Hen-
sel' until five years ago when he went
to London and worked for the Lond-
on City Dairy. He is survrved by his
widow, two sons, Irvin of Goderich,
and Alex of Hensall; two daughters,
Mrs. Pearl Jones and Miss Viola, of
London; two sisters, Mrs. i. Zettel,
London and Mrs. M. Knott, of Owen
Sound. The body rested at the Evans
funeral home from where the funer-
al was held Wednesday with requiem
high mass in St. Peter's Cathederel
at 10 a.m. Interment in St. (Peter's
cemetery.
Late Henry Krueger
There passed away at his home o'n
Sunday morning Henry Krueger, a
well known resident of Dashwood and
vicinity for the past nine years he
resided there, and passed very sud-
denly, while returning from the
barn to the house he was stricken
with a heart attack—Dr. P. J. 0'-
Dwgver of Zurich, was called. The
departed was born on the 14th con-
cession, Hay Township, farming there
for many years before retiring to
Dashwood, was always of a very up-
right in his dealings, and of sterling
qualitiLrs. Surviving are his wife, the
former Elizabeth Miller, two daugh-
ters, Mrs. William Zinkaann r_nd Mrs
Carl Piellusch, both of Kitchener,
and one son, Herbert of Zurich., He
was in his 80th year and was a mem-
ber of Zion Lutheran Church, Dash-
wood. The body rested at the T. H.
Hoffman Funeral Home, Dashwood.
Funeral services were held in the
Zion Lutheran church, Dashwood on
Tuesday at 2.30. Rev. L. Higenell
officiated. Interment followed iwn. the
Lutheran Bronson lino Cemeterly.
NO MORE MEATLESS DAYS
Ottawa -- Restrictions on the ser-
ving of meat on Tuesdays and Fri-
days in public eating places was lif-
ted last Friday, the Prices Board an-
nounced. Although general meat rat-
ioning was discontinued last Feb. 29.
the meatless days were continued as
a means of saving meat for shipment
overseas
