HOME PATRONAGE
Patronizing your Home Merchant and Bus-
inessmen by the surrounding community is what
builds up a business, town and community. We
cannot work together by not dealing with each
other and pulling together. The same holds good
with your local Printer... He cannot live and thrive
on the print jobs that are being sent out of town,
which could be done at home, and often at a big
saving.
Home Patronage is an essential for Prosperity
and Go -Ahead!

NEW DISTRICT GOVERNOR
Zone 3 of District A -i, Lions In-
ternational, again has the honour
during the year 1947-48 of having
one of its members as District Gov-
ernor for the entire District AeI, ex-
tending from Windsor to Owen
Sound, and east to Brantford and
Woodstock, including London,' He
is Lloyd E. Edighoffer of Mitchell, a
former Dashwoodboy and well known
in this district. He was elected to
this high office at the 27th annual
convention in Windsor early in July
defeating J. J. Edward, Petrolia. He
has had a considerable experience in
Lionism, and should fill the bill very
well.
A. LOT OF RAIN
The first real soaker of rain visit-
ed the Zurich district on Sunday and
then on Tuesday morning another
heavy shower visited us, We have
been fortunate in avoiding the un-
welcome heavy rains which have
surrounded the Zurich district. 'Pre-
vious to Sunday some very heavy
showers were at Hensall, Exeter, and
all around, but we escaped these. 1n
the Exeter district thousands of doll-
ars damage has been done by flood-
ing as over two inches of rain fell
over the week -end, and it feared"af
heavy damages among the farmers,
who need a lot of good weather now
to get in the balance of the hay and
harvest the wheat crop. Strange to
say out in the Western Provinces
the farmers are praying for rain as
the crops are burning up, and here
there is altogether too much rain.

failed to dampen the success of the
Exeter Turf Club's second big meet
on the new oval as some 3,e00 rat*
fans jammed the Park last Wednes-
day afternoon to see a field of 43
horses race for the $1,900 prize

fight being waged against that dread
disease--cancer—comes from Dr.
Roscoe R. Spencer, Director of U.S.

READY MONEY FOR FARM
IMPROVEMENT
Simplified Financing Helps Go -Ahead
Farmers
Ready money to a farmer can
mean the difference between being
really successful in his enterprise, or
just getting by — it can selp him
put his improvement plans into op-
eration making his farm more, pro-
ductive and more profitable.
Many farmers short of ready cash,
have found that a Benk of Montreal
loan has made improvements a simple
matter
Some of the uses to which B of AI
Farm Improvement Loans have been
put include :
new improved agricultural im-
plements and equipment; electrical
aids; washing machines, cream
separators, refrigeration pumps,
motors, mlking machines; install-
ation of lighting, heating, and
water systems; farm buildings, re-
pairs and- extensions; fencing,
drainage and land improvement;
new livestock for building up the
herd.
If a lack of ready money is, hin-
dering your farm improvement plans
call on Mr. Sewell, local manager o f
the Bank of Montreal. You will find
that he knows and understands the
farmer's problems. His attitude on
farm credit is; "When you ask for a
Joan at the E of M, you do not ask
a favour."
