Family Picnic "An enjoyable family picnic was hel't1 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Rannie, Babylon line, last Sunday, when a most lovely time is reported by all present. Those from a ,distance were: Mrs. A. Rose of Tor- onto and her sister, Mrs. A. Kane of Cha.tanuka, Tenn; also Mr. and Mrs. Brace Rose of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Broderick, Exeter; Mr. and Mrs Russell Broderick and Mr. and Mrs Garfield Broderick, of Hensall. Return from Trip Out West •Last Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Hen- ry. •Steinbach of town returned from a few weeks' trip to the State of North Dakota, where the former has two brothers living. They were ac- companied by the former's brother, 1Vlr. Daniel Steinbach, of South Bend Ind., who has never before been in the West. All report' a ,most enjoy- able time, making the trip by rail, oai the newer modern air conditioned coaches, which snakes travelling a pleasure. While in Dakota they vis- ited many places of interest, were up ii,t Manitoba, and also attended the funeral of the late Frederick Deichert Who was formerly from here, and olio died in the Hospital at Detroit kes, Dak., but was buried at Cav- ier, N. Irwin, Toronto, to Dr. Frederick William Hess, of Zurich, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew F. Hess, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Douglas E. Brad- ford. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an -ivory slipper satin .gown, the three folds below the waistline falling into a very full graceful train, and carried a cascade •of white roses. Jean Waters, the maid of honor, and Elsie Prothroe and', Eileen Smyth, bridesmaids, were dres-ed alike in coraT faille crepe with dl -op shouTders and tuTT skirts, and carried matching • +b•ouquets of blue carnations. At the recept 60606®6®6a4e„ 496660666P4'6616 OBITUARY Late John Hartman Passes A welt known and highly respect- ed former resident of the commun- ity in the person of John Hartman passed this life in Hamilton after two days illness. He was born on the farm now owned by its son Kinn) of the Goshen line, Hay Townsc!ip, on December 1941801. He lived there for 65 years when they moved to :a . � Seaforth 21 years ago. He was hv- img, with his son John in Hamilton at the time of death. Surviving are six sons, and one daughter; Bernard, Thedford; Edwin, Goderich; Charlie Sarnia; Kuno and Philip, Zurich; John at Hamilton, and Agnes at Wal- laceburg. Twenty-four grandchildren arid three great grand children.
