Act, has been submitted to the Farm Products Marketing Board for consideration, by the Ontario Cream Producers Association. Before the Board can consider recommending the. scheme, it must be satisfied that a fair represen tation of the Cream Producers are in favour of its adoption. in order to obtain the recorded views of the Producers, a vote by ballot is being taken on the question:— "ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF THE PROPOSED ONTARIO CREAM PRODUCERS' MARKETING SCHEME BEING BROUGHT INTO FORCE IN ONTARIO?" ALL PRODUCERS MUST REGISTER All producers must register to vote. Two alternative methods of voting are provided to Cream Producers, as follows:— (1) By personal registration and voting in each Agricultural Representative's office between March 31 and April 30, 19.17, -or (2) By personal registration and voting with the Deputy Returning Officer in charge at each local meeting. HUSBAND, WIFE, SON OR DAUGHTER MAY VOTE, BUT ONLY ONE FROM EACH OPERATING FARM UNIT F PRS IUM Parliament Buildings, Queen's Park, Toronto, Ontario BO HY SERS The wintertime power shortage in Southern Ontario has been relieved with the coming of spring and the longer hours of daylight. In the winter months the shorter and darker days create a maximum demand on your Hydro system. Conditions in this winter season are such that Hydro plants are loaded to the point where it becomes necessary to ask for the co-operation of all Hydro users in saving electricity by every possible voluntary means. In the spring and summer season the urgency for conservation is not so great as in the fall and winter. The voluntary saving of electricity in homes, offices, theatres, stores, and in industry, greatly relieves this condition. Your response was very helpful. To those who so willingly co-operated during this emergency period, Hydro says, `Thank You." In many localities Hydro stations and lines are overloaded because of the delay in obtaining neces- sary new equipment. Therefore, do not waste electricity --use Hydra wisely at all times. ELECTRIC 'POWER COMMISSION 01 ONTARIO HERE'S WHY: And the way we esti- mate supply and prices for th incoming FALL and WINTER. EGG PRICE CEILINGS REMOVED The British contract will take all surplus eggs to May 31, and a sharp rise in prices is expected in Juno and July. Estimates are that production of ibi by chicks and turkey poults in the United States is down by from (40-50%. This means the United States will have' far less eggs, chickens and turkciys for export and might even want buy Canadian eggs, ready -to -lay pullets, poultry meat and turkeys. In January past 35 carloads of American tur=keys were shipped to Ontario. Feed prices in the United States are high at the present time due perhaps to a great extent speculation, thus greatly curtailing chick purchases, but feed prices are expected to lower again this Summer, so this may create a demand in the United States for Canadian poultry products.. The Poultry Industries Committee is trying and expects to get an increase in ex- port egg and poultry prices for our surplus for 1947 and '48. It is expected .that.price ceilings in beef, pork and poultry meat will be removed this Summer, so there should be a good' home demand and prices should be better - POULTRY MEAT PRICES Summing it all up, it looks like the year to start as manly chicks as early as at all possible. Don't let the temporary feed and egg and poultry' meat prices change your mind on the amount of pullers or cockerels you buy. What you are buy- ing now are not for immediate markets. Cheap .ordinary chucks often cost more to raise than good chicks. It takes at least the same amount of feed, time, space and equipment to raise poor quality chicks, as it does to raise the 'best. Place some of your range shelters on the barn floor ar mow. You can make a pen -with a little fence wire or gate, etc. If the weather is cold, sack the shelters on three sides. Six week-old chickens should have one square, foot floor space per bird. PLAN 2. Plrace shelters along front or east side of colony house.
