ry Restemeyer held last Saturday
afternoon at Dashwood.

Had Big Season
Large crowds were in evidence
over the -week-end at Grand Bend,
and as in past years the Labor Day
week -end is about the .end of the
season, Monday evening was the last
evening for the Lakeview Casino
who has had a very good year. Prac-
tically all the business stands are
packing up for the winter months
which will soon be along. Mr.
F. C. Walker of Oakwood. Golf
Course, after another big season, is
closing his diningroom, but the golf
links will go on for a considerable
these, as in other years. The hotels
have also had a very big season. So
here's hoping that 1947 will again be
a big year.

Beirling, of the Blue Water Highway
Hay Twp. The bride looked lovely in
a pink lace dress with pink *lowered
headress holding her shoulder veil.
She carried a bouquet of pink and
white asters. Her only ornament
was a gold locket, a gift of the groom
Weiss Florence Vivian, Stratford, sis-
ter of the . bride, was bridesmaid
wearing a blue silk jersey frock and
headdress similar to that worn by
the bride. She carried blue and white
asters. Mr. Lorne Beirling, brother of
the groom, was hest man. The dinner'
was served at the home 'of the bride's
parents. Mrs. Beirling and Mrs.
Vivian received the guests. An effec-
tive setting was formed with stream-
ers from the three-storey wedding
cake, gladioli, phylox and petunias.
Miss Rhea Coghlin, Listowel, and
.Miss Helen Good, St. Pauls, assisted
at the dinner. Later Mr. and Mrs.
Bierling left for Grand Bend, Ham-
ilton and Niagara Falls, the bride
travelling in a fuchia wood dress-
maker suit with accessories in white.
Upon their return they will reside on
the groom's fine farm a mile and a
half north of Zurich. Guests at the
wedding were from Dashwood, Mit-
shell, Listowel, St, Pauls, Logan Twp
and Thorndale.

Wins Silver Medal'
Mary Ann Pennington, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs, Clare Pennington,
,of Parkhill, will receive the silver
medal for the highte't standing
throughout the year in the :~rade
six piano examination of the West-
ern Ontario ,Conservatory of Music.

service in the Blake church on Sun-
day afternoon, after having two we-
ek's holidays in Sault Ste. Marie.
Mr. and Mrs. James Dinsmore and
family of Windsor spent the week-
end with Mrs. J. Douglas and Miss
Emma Dinsmore, also Mr. and Mrs.
T. Dinsmore. and Jim
Mr. Rudy visited friends in the
vicinity for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Itagier and Mr.

J. Denornme spent a few days in
Toronto.
The school re -opened for the fall
term on Tuesday.

Delighted to be Back
Mrs. Henry McClinchey, who has
been with her sister in Center Val-
ley, Calif., since last March, has
returned to her home in the village.
She was accompanied by her sister,
Mrs. S. F. Whitehill, who is spend-
ing some time here. Mrs. McClinchey
visited in Los Angles and many
points of interest, but the wonder of
California 'hudds no attraction for
her. She :is delighted to be back in
Bayfield in her own home.
St. Joseph and Beaver Town
Mr. and. Mrs. Philbert Denoimne
of Windsor spent a few days the past
week visiting relatives and Friends in
this visinity ,who were pleased .to
see them.
Mr. and Mrs. Odell Sopha of De-
troit spent Labour Day with relati-
ves on the Blue Water north.
Mrs. Leon Jeffrey of Beavertown,
is .spending a few weeks in Grand
Bend visiting with her daughter and
son -an -law.
Mr. Raymond Masse of Detroit and
the Misses Sherly and Doris Jeffrey,
of Detroit, spent the week -end in
Beavertown, with the latter's parents
Master Gerard Jeffrey who has
completed his four years of High
School in Mt. Carmel has left for
Windsor where he will enter Assum-
ption College for one year, prior to
going to .St. Peter's Seintnary in
London.
'Mrs. Leonard Masse and Mrs. Wm
Wessing of London were Sunday vis-
itors with their mother, Mrs. Wm.
Ducharme.
Some of our local farmers have
started to pull beans, the crop is fair
and only rainy weather could hurt
the sample, as the crop is free from
rust or stains, of course, there is
plenty of worry yet for the farmer
before they are on the market.
Sister St. Dennis of Chatham and
Sister Pricille Therese were visiting
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Ducharme over the week -end. Also
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ducharme of
Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Petrick of Mus-
kegon, Mich., and the Messre Huib-
er't and Blaise Ducharme of Windsor
and Mr. and Mrs. Tyrus Stansberry
and family of Detroit ana on Mon-
day all have returned to their homes
and thus leaving an other Labour
Day and another family gathering
with only it sweet memories left.

spent the past three weeks with her

FIannigan's Orchestra furnished the
music for the dance.
At the Old Time Fiddler's contest
held at the, Labor Day celebration at
Clinton en Monday, Mr. William
Hyde of Hensall won first prize with
Mr. Catlins capturing second. Mr.
Hyde is in his 83rd year and is to be
be congratulated upon hie splendid
performance at this event. Since
1927 he has won 27 prizes in these
contests, having won 10 traphys, 15
prizes of cash; one floor lamp and
one rug. --Congratulations!

A reception in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Campbell of Exeter,
(Mrs. Campbell a war bride) who
came to Canada two weeks ago, was
held in the town hall, Hensall, on
Friday, Aug. 30th, with a hall pack-
ed for the event. Mr, and Mrs. Cam-
pbell were presented with a well

Mr. T. C. Joynt, who was operated
on Friday morning last at the Gen-
eral Hospital, Toronto, in the inter-
ests of his health is making splendid
progress, his many friends are pleas-
ed to learn.
The Redden Reunion was held at
the home of Mrs. Catharine Hedden,
St. Catharines, Sunday Sept. let
when about 75 members of the clan
were present from Hamilton, Kitch-
ener, Dresden, Port Huron, Buffalo,
St. Catharines, Merrittoa, Port. Dal-
housie, London, Clinton and Hensall
Also present were the family. of Mrs
Hedden including 10 sons and two
daughters, 19 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. The affair was
arranged to celebrate the return of
Mrs. Hedden's three sons, Harold,
Orville and Russell who recently re-
turned from overseas.
Pte. E. L. Gilbert of the C.A.S.C.
transport driver arrived in London
Monday after serving overseas two
years. He is a brother of Mrs. R. A.
Orr, of Hensall.
Rev. R. A. Brook occupied his own
pulpit on Sunday Sept. ist, follow-
ing a month's vacation.
Mr. T. C. Joynt is in .Toronto
General Hospital in the interests of
Ius health. His many friends trust he
will soon be restored to his usual
good health.
