Lions Club News Had Second Frolic The second annual Lions Frolic was a decided success even though the weatherman was -quite undecided throughout the day, as real autumn like weather was in evidence, - but the clouds vanished and the .big event went on; but with an --atmospheres that 'was quite cool. The affair was officially opened by Torry Gregg, "sports announcer of GXNX" Wingham, and Dr. R. Hobbs Taylor, "MLA for Huron South." Atter which the Lions, "like a bunch of well trained 'circus Lions" sprang to their responsible duties and the show was on. At time. of writing, approximately $2.500.00 was realized in gross re- ceipts, but the net results wrri not be known until the'bills are all handed in. The London 'Police Boys Bancl, 75 in number, was a wand sight to see as well as hear and were continually applauded for their numbers render- ed. The fireworks display, which was aibout the last event of the ev- ening, was greatly appreciated by the near 3000 people present. All in all, it was a very successful night of fun and entertainment. The Lions are greatly appreciative of the help given by non Lions and Lions of other towns, 'besides the Lionesses who really had a very busy evening in the booth. Johnston -Beaver A pretty wedding was soremnized when Walter Leo Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs:. W. H. Johnston, of Hayfield, took as his bride recently at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Manse, Zurich, Alice Elizabeth, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beaver of Zurich. The Rev. E. Heimrich performed the ceremony The bride was.lovely in her slysper length white lace gcwn satin, .fash- ioned with gracefully flowing train, sweetheart neckline edged with a lace frill and nylon yoke with satin bows. Her leg-o'-inutton sleeves were tapered to a point over the ;and, the only ornament was a pearl pend- ant, the fingertips veil of tulle illus- ion was edged with tiny bows and caught in. a headdress of velvet flow- ers, she carried a white 13ibble from which hung white ribbon edged in sil'ver, notted with tiny flowers and fern. Miss Eileen Beaver was her sister's bridesmaid, attired in a floor -length pink lace over satin, fitt- ed bodice and shirred net edged the sweetheart neckline matching pink lace elbow length gloves. Her pink fingertips veil was caught in a head- dress of flowers Miss Pearl Gillman maid of honour, was attired in a white sheer floor, length skirt, with a blue lace waist. Her blue fingertips veil -was caught in a headdress of blue flowers and matching blue gloves. They both carried an arm bouquet o1'' - pink and white gladoli. Mr. Ford Johnston, brother of the groom, per- ; formed the duties of hest man. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the Mimeo - late relatives. The bride's mother wore a figured silk dress with green accessories, the groom's mother wore a blue shore dregs:. The dinning room was attractively adorned with flower.., white and pink streamers and bells, suspended from the chandlier and fastened to the four corners of the room, the three- tier wedding cake formed the central motive of the bride's table, Amid sho vers of .confetti and best wishes, Mr. and Airs. Johnston left to start their honey -moon trip to Ottawa, l3ellville and points east. The bride travelling in a ice blue silk Jersey dress with black sequim trim- med hat and accessories with rasp- berry coloured shorty coat.
