About 1400 Japanese who have

Hold Picnic
The Lion, Club Park, Seaforth, has
again proved itself to be the ideal
' place for a picnic when on Tuesday
last the members of Rippon and Hills
. Green United churches met for their
annual picnic. All sat down to well
laden tables for supper at 6.30 pan.
After which all enjoyed an hour of
well chosen sports arranged •by Mrs.
John Sinclair and Mrs. Edison Mac-
Lean. A tug -of -war was held be-
tween Kippen and HiIlsgreen men,
which resulted that HiIlsgreen men
are the stronger. Everyone then en-
joyed a ball game.

Had Successful Dance
A successful. dance was herd in tthu
Pavlllion last Monday night through
the generosity of E. R. Weston. The
affair was under the auspices of the
committee in charge of the Bayfield
and Community Active Service Fund
and the music by the Bayfield Valley
Five Orchestra. The proceeds are to
go towards the purchaseot. a mem-
orial plaque to those from the com-
munity who gave their lives in the
sewed world war, It will be prayed
on the cairn in Clan Gregor Square.
The committee also hopes to raise
enough stoney to ,place a suitable
fence around the cairn.

Peter Tillman, Toronto, spent the!
weekend rut the family cottage. He
attended St. Michael's College, Uni-
versity of Toronto and received his'
degree in architecture this year, gra,I
duating withh onors and winning the
gold medal. He also won a scholar-'
ship which entitles hint to post -grad -1
uate study in any of three promin-
ent Universities in the U. S. At pres-
sent he is associated with a firm of
architects in Toronto.

Sarnia were visitors :with their par-

Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Drysdale are

Truck Upsets—Driver Unhurt
Garnet Allan, Hensall, diad a nar-
row escape from serious injury when
his large gravel truck got out of cone
trol in loose gravel, and landed up-
side down in the ditch. He sbil'ered.
