DON'T BORROW FROM PERSONAL FRIENDS It was Shakespeare who said: "Neither a borrower nor a lender be, For loan oft loses both itself and friend." Shakespeare's advice is as sound to- day as it was when he wrote it, but, then, he was talking of personal friends. Today, there is no need to lose fri- ends because you need money, for lending money is everyday business at the Bank of Montreal, and, be- cause it is done on a sound and bus- inesslike basis, the Bank, instead of losing friends, makes more and more every day. To anyone in a position to repay without hardship, the Bank of Mon- treal lends for any constructive pur- pose and at a rate so low as to be negligilble—one-half of 1% per month, or 27c. a month for $100 loan, repayable in 12 monthly . in- stalments. The Bank is glad to do it. That is what it is there for, and no true friend should ever trouble an- other friend for a loan while such a service is at his command.
