George Deiche#,4 Zurich Students Receive Awards
SecY'S.S. N. 7, Hay Exeter School's fourth Commence-
ment last week in the brightly decor-
ated arena was a largely attended
event. The program was supplied
by the Glee Club of 50 voices and
the 25 -piece orchestra from the Sir
Adam Beck C. I., London, under the
direction of C. G. Chapman. Those
among from Zurich receiving gradu-
ation diplomas: June Beierling, Ar -
vis Haberer, Pauline Haberer, Aud-
rey; Heimrich, Marjory Klopp, Nola.
Krueger, Helen O'Brien, Bruce Eick-
meier. These young folks are to be
congratulated for their line stand-
ard they have shown. Their many
friends wish them all continued suc-
eess.

Marys were Easter visitors at the
home of Mrs, Chas, Weber.
Mr, and Mn. Clarence Hoffman,
and son Bobbie of Galt were holiday
visitors with their parents here.

London, were Sunday visitors with
their parents here.
Mr. Garfield Witmer of Kitchener,
visited with his parents, Mr, and
Mrs. Sylv. Witmer, also his brother,
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Witmer.
Large Egg
A rather peculiar egg was laid by
a hen owned by Mr. and Mrs. C. 0.
Smith, Blue Water Highway, which
.was considerable larger than a cluck
egg and contained an ordinary egg
with yolk, and another egg with a
hard shell was also inside the big one.
This might be called as a popular
shoe polish -Two -hi -one.
Fire
Fire Brigade Called
; The Zurich Fire Brigade were cal-
led to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hy.
Adkins on Monday morning when
fire was noticed near the straw stack
at the barn. It had spread to the
Stack which was burning quite lively
When firemen arrived But with quick
action it was kept from the barn
and was soon under control. The
men deserve much credit for their
splendid co-operation when called
upon, as it was a veiiy short time'
and they were racing at full speed
ta the .scene of the fire, which was
soon extinguished.

OBITUARY
Late Mrs. John Hartman
The death took place of Caroline
Strut)), wife of Mr. John Hartman,
on Wednesday, April 17th, at her
home, Jarvis Street, Seaforth, foll-
owing an ilinesS of four weeks. Mrs.
Hartman was born in Waterloo Co-
unty on Feb. 26th, 18(39, and after
her marriage lived four miles south
of Zurich 'before going to Seaforth
twenty years ago. Besides her husb-
and she is survived by six sone, and
one daughter: Bernard, Thedford ;
Edwin, Goderich; Charlie, Sarnia;
Kuno and Philip, Zurich; John Ham-
ilton, and Agnes, of Walla ceburg ;
also by one sister, Mrs. Menem, of
Kitchener, and twenty-four grand-
children and two great grandchildren
Services were held on Saturday -itt
10 a.m., followed by interment hi
St. James' Cemetery, and Requiem
High Mass - was sung on Monday
morning at 9.30 a.m. in St. James
Church.

There passed away on Saturday at
the Kitchener Hospital Clara Koehler
McLeod, daughter of the late Peter
Koehler of Zurich, and wife of tir,
late Dr. Alexander McLeod a native
or Bayfield and former school teach.
er of Zurich, but who practiced his
profession at Wroxeter before. his
passing. Mre. McLeod was also a
former teacher of Z.P.S., arid was
ill only a very short time with a
stroke, and had been living with her
cousin Mr, and Mrs. Daniel Koehler
of Kitchener. She was aged 61.
years and was predeceased by her
husband by ten years, Surviving are
a son Jack at Guelph, arid a daugh-
ter Margaret at Witby; Two broth-
ers, Addison of Detroit, and Edward
of Toronto; and two sisters, MissesTiel
Helena and Ada of Toronto.
remaids were laid to rest on Mon-
day afternoon in the Bayfteld cem-
etery beside, her husband.
