has disposed of the blacksmith bus-
iness which he has awned and oper-
ated for 42 years to Mr. Ward
Fritz of Zurich. The old building
is being torn down and up-to-date
gas station will be erected.

HENRY HOFFMAN RETIRES
After carrying the Dashwood mail
for more than 44 years Mr. Henry
Hoffman has retired and his place is
now taken by Ross Guenther. Mr.
Hoffman making his last trip on Sat-
urday last. During fair weather and
foul, summer and winter during all
these years, Mr. Hoffman's slogan
has been, the mail must go through.
In November 1901, he began as a
bus driver for Mr. Henry Guenther,
father of Earl Guenther, ovnecr et
the Guenther Transport. :.ter. Guen-
ther in 1913 met his death from in-
juries received in a team accident.

RED CROSS CAMPAIGN
The Red Cross Society will not
make an appeal for funds this year,
but in order that the organization
may be continued a drive will be put
on for members. The Zurich and Dis-
trict Branch will launch a drive 'in
the near future. Those who donate
$1.00 or more are considered memb-
ers. More information about the lo-
cal drive will shortly be given to our
community..
A Special Speaker
The Rev. 'Paul Eydt will be the
speaker at the morning service in
St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Sun-
day April 7th. Rev. Eydt will dis-
cuss Lutheran World Action. The
purpose of Lutheran World Action is
to help needy Lutherans throughout
the world, but especially in Europe
where their plight is something that
should move every fellow -believer to
action. Clothes, food, and drugs are
being sent to European Agencies for
distribution. Another purpose is to
help orphaned Missions, that is, to
care for Missions which are r1.0 long-
er receiving aid from European Miss-
ionary Societies. Eight general Luth-
eran bodies have joined in the effort
to raise $10,000,000 for the purpos-
es stated above.

Mrs. Charles D. Bedard
tiles, Charles D. Bedard, a resident
of the Blue Water Highway, near
Township and was in her 83rd year.
She had also resided in Holrnesville.
Is survived by her husband and four
