A despatch from Ottawa states
that 197 doctors successfully passed
the examinations of the 1MedicaI Co-
uncil of Canada, the list includes
Dr. Fred W;•Hess, Zurich, Ont., and
wisp is the youngest son of Mr. and
Mrs. A. F. Hess, of Zurich Dr. Hess
is now interned at Western Hospital,
'Toronto.
Attended Banquet
lIr. and Mrs. Ward Fritz attended
the banquet of the Super -Test staff
of the sales department of which il'ir.
Fritz is the distributor for Exeter
-district Which was held in the Georg-
ia Roonit at Hotel London last Tues-
day evening. Each lady present was
presented with an Aynsley cup and
saucer. Mrs. Ward Fritz being suc-
cessful in holding the lucky number
for the door prize, the gift being 3
pairs of nylon ladies hose, this being
a very valuable gift at the present
time. An enjoyable evening ;vas
stent.

his 96.th 'birthday. Mr. Foster was
barn in t. Clemens, nearKitchener,
but spent,the greater part of his life
near 'Lural, on the • Babylon Line,

houses in Zuriah, Hensall and sur-
roundind district were built with his
brick. After giving up the brick
yard he started cementing and the
drilling of wells.
Mr. Foster is in comparatively
good health, has retained a youthful
spirit and is deeply interested in all
current events. When the weather is
favourable he takes his daily walks
for the mail. He still has a sprightly
step and has never used glasses.
His Wife died 13 years ago. There
is a family of four sons and two
daughters: Louis of Kitchener, Alb-
ert of Biggar, Sask; Alphonse, of
Hensall; Alex of London; Mrs. Mat-
ilda Deitrich on the Foster home-
stead and Mrs. Jacob Battrer with
whom Mr. Foster resides.

Hensall Council Minutes
The regular meeting of the Village
Council was held on the evening of
!larch. 5th, at 8 p.m. in the Council
Chamber, with all members being
present. Minutes of the previous
meeting were read and adopted.
R. J. Paterson, tax collector, re-
ported and asked that the tax roll be
extended until next meeting.
Motion, that the tax Collector
hand in the 1945 tax roll at the next
netting April 2, 1946. Lions Club News
The Auditors Report was looked
over and accepted, and that sufficient
copies be printed.
T. Kyle asked about the empty
arrels at the rear of the Hall, was
nstructed to return the same to the

of the evening were Lion Sydney
McArthur of Hensall, who is a mem-
ber of the Clinton Club; and the
guest speaker of the evening, Prof-
fessor Herbert Kalbfleiseh who is a
member of the teaching staff of Wes-
tern University, London. Professor
Kalbfleisch dwelled on poetry of the
past, some of the deeper meanings
of it were brought, and in his closing
remarks touched on the necessity of
Zurich restoring again its library
which has been dormant ?or some
years. The speaker had to close long
before he was through owing to oth-
er meetings which followed immed-
iately after.
HYMENEAL
A pretty wedding was solemnized
by Rev. C. J. Killip er at Trinity
Lutheran Church, London, on Friday
March lst at four p.m., when Nlcla
Mary, slaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed-
ward Stire, of the 14th Con. Hay
dress of white organza with a short
veil, and carried snap dragons and
carnations. She was attended by her
aster, Miss Alice Stire, dressed it,
